Slide 1: Matthew 22:15-21 Slide 2: “Give therefore to the emperor the things that are the emperor’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” Slide 3: The image of emperors were inscribed on coins because they were regarded as his personal property. Slide 4: Paying taxes is not only giving back what belongs to the the emperor, it is also a recognition of his power and authority. Slide 5: In the same way, we need to give to God what belongs to Him. And what are the things that belong to God? Slide 6: Everything belongs to God! Slide 7: We are created in God's likeness and thus we are stamped with His image. We belong to God. Slide 8: Giving ourselves to God is only giving God what rightly belongs to Him.
