Leaders identified as the WEBELOS Transition Coordinator for their Troop or Pack WEBELOS Den Leaders Scoutmasters Cubmasters Anyone who wants to put up with me! Job Description:  Job Description WEBELOS to Boy Scouts Transition Coordinator (Official Title) Job Description: The WEBELOS Coordinator is the person who helps to coordinate the advancement of WEBELOS from Cub Scouts into Boy Scouts. They act as the liaison between the Troop and various “feeder” Packs. Reports to: The Committee Job Description cont’d:  Job Description cont’d The WEBELOS Coordinator’s Duties Works with the Troop Guide on WEBELOS activities Promotes the Den Chief Program Maintains Communications with Packs Ensures that WEBELOS are included in and invited to participate with Troop activities Encourages WEBELOS to participate in the Akela Award program Arranges for crossover participation by Troop members Contact WEBELOS who do not cross over, to make sure they are not forgotten Job Description (My personal translation):  Job Description (My personal translation) As WTC you have 5 main tasks: Contact WEBELOS Dens and invite them to participate in your troop’s activities, I.e. weekly meetings, Camporee, Klondike & Court of Honor Coordinate crossovers for WEBELOS that want to join your troop with the Pack or WEBELOS Den Leader Follow up with any WEBELOS that didn’t crossover to ensure that they weren’t forgotten (Disappearing Scouts) Once a WEBELO is part of your troop and a registered Boy Scout, encourage them to take up the Akela Award Program challenge Promote the Den Chief Program 5 W’s – Who?:  5 W’s – Who? WEBELOS 2nd Year 1st Year Parents Cubmasters WEBELOS Den Leaders Interested Parents of WEBELO Scouts Who are you trying to recruit? 5 W’s – What?:  5 W’s – What? What is the WTC trying to do? Well your trying to sell your troop’s program to WEBELOS that probably know little or nothing about Boy Scouting. You’re also trying to sell your troop’s program to a Parent of a WEBELO that also probably knows little or nothing about Boy Scouting. Trying to build an in-road for next year’s recruiting from that Pack! 5 W’s - Where?:  5 W’s - Where? Where do you find WEBELOS and their Parents? Packs WEBELOS Dens Roundtable Scout Show Camporee Klondike Derby 5 W’s – When?:  5 W’s – When? When do I start recruiting? Year around Specifically just before Camporee Court of Honor Klondike Derby Troop Special Events I.e. Rocket Shoots, Swim Parties, Halloween Parties, etc… Re-Charter 5W’s – Why?:  5W’s – Why? To make available to all WEBELOS the opportunity to continue in Scouting and to join your troop To help your Troop grow by adding new boys and parents Suggested reasons why a boy might want to join Boy Scouts: He has friends in the Troop He knows or has a relationship with the Troop Adult Leaders His friends are planning to join the Troop The Troop’s outdoor program looks exciting and fun He likes the idea of Boy Scout Advancement He might already have met the requirements of Boy Scouts and is working to met the requirements of Scout Rank With the tan/khaki uniform for the WEBELOS Scout, he’s well on his way toward a complete Boy Scout Uniform He’s already been told that Troop membership is the next step beyond WEBELOS Scout and he is ready for that step.
