Description

The OSS/BSS systems for next-generation telco operators and service providers need to support multiple network technologies, diverse services, complex and interdependent charging principles, and convergent service definition, rating, billing and customer care.

WiTech, by its long-standing experience in the consulting & engineering services and in the development of OSS/BSS components for primary telecommunications operators and service providers, has conceived an innovative BPM-enabled Next-Generation OSS/BSS Framework, aimed at supporting the next-generation telco operators and service providers deploying and managing their networks, allowing full integration, automation and control of key operational processes.

The WiTech BPM-enabled Next-Generation OSS/BSS Framework has been conceived according to the TM Forum's NGOSS/eTOM guidelines, utilizing the SOA paradigm and Web Services.

The WiTech BPM-enabled Next-Generation OSS/BSS Framework is made of a number of ready-to-deploy systems, including:

• The WiTech WROP|Suite platform

• The WiTech TelcoGIS|Suite platform

• The Intalio|BPM Enterprise Edition platform

The WiTech WROP|Suite platform is a modular, carrier-class access & service management system tailored to support fast moving operators deploying and managing broadband access networks with advanced features for subscriber and service management. The platform stands out for its rich feature set providing comprehensive support of different types of wireline (xDSL) and wireless (HiperLAN, WiFi Hot Spot, Fixed & Mobile WiMAX) broadband access network technologies, authentication, services (e.g., VoIP), and metering and charging (prepaid and postpaid) schemas .

The WiTech TelcoGIS|Suite platform is an integrated Web-GIS (Geographical Information System) developed by WiTech to help telco operators and service providers address key operational needs; it makes available a powerful and flexible foundation to implement a number of applications and services in different areas, including business & strategic network planning, network panning & implementation, network optimization and maintenance, customer provisioning, marketing, sales & commercial planning, quality assurance.

The Intalio|BPM Enterprise Edition platform is a Java-based, SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) and Web Services-compliant BPM (Business Process Management) system. It provides all the components required for the modeling, design, deployment, and management of any process. In particular, it features an advanced designer environment for process modeling and design, a powerful server run-time environment with an integrated human workflow engine, and a number of pre-built connectors, also based on Web Services, for the integration of external systems and environments (WSDL, JDBC, XForms, SMTP, POJO, JMS, LDAP, SAP, etc.). WiTech is Intalio’s Platinum Partner focused on the Telco industry.

The WiTech BPM-enabled Next-Generation OSS/BSS Framework offers the highest level of flexibility to adapt to the specific environment of a telco operator or service provider, easily integrating, with an open-ended, loosely-coupled approach, through dedicated connectors, with the other typical OSS/BSS systems (e.g. Ordering, Provisioning, CRM, VoIP, Billing, etc.) and with specific third-party systems and legacy systems, thus preserving existing investments.

Traditional OSS/BSS Architecture Unfit to support the growing needs of today’s Telco Service providers!

Next-Generation OSS/BSS The OSS/BSS for Next-Gen Telco Service Providers need to support: multiple technologies/networks diverse services complex and interdependent charging principles convergent service definition, rating, billing and customer care All prominent Telco service providers worldwide have formalized in the widely-recognized TM Forum's NGOSS/eTOM guidelines that formal process definition, process repositories, and process engines are fundamental to implement Next-Gen OSS/BSS Business Process Management (BPM) is key, and the separation of business processes from software components is one of the core principles underlying it

The BPM Key Principle: Externalized Process Logic Problem: Embedded process logic in business systems/apps Agility barrier, expense GIS Solution: Decompose business systems into reusable modules (“services”) Billing CRM Expose process logic in a separate solution layer external to systems GW Compose process model in graphical tool Flowchart, accessible to business users ERP Systems / Applications Agile, easily changed Systems / Execute the model on BPM System Applications Process Connects to systems through standards- Model based integration BPM provides a great abstraction for building business systems
