1. Wind & Ocean currents The BeaufortScale The strength of wind is measured using the BeaufortScale. This scale begins at 0 and goes up as far as 12. There is no wind at all when it is at 0, whereas the other end of the scale is a hurricane (12). The scale is named after the Irishmanwho invented it.
