Description

Black annealed wire is produced in four different forms: rewound coils, cut bars, formers and cut and looped black annealed wire. Read this article to discover which type of black annealed wire your business should use in order to cover your needs.

Which Form of Black Annealed Wire to Use Black annealed wire is a highly popular form of wire within a number of industries and sectors, used as everything from a reinforcing agent, to an industrial metal tie, to a basic material for jewellery. But what is it and why should you use it for your business? Black annealed wire is a form of wire that has been made out of carbon steel. The high carbon content means the steel is harder and stronger. The metal is then annealed to restore the ductility to it, meaning the malleability is improved, which then enables it to be cut into wire. In the case of steel, this is usually a process that involved heating the wire slowly, before letting it cool to room temperature. Black annealed wire can come in a number of different forms. These include:  Rewound coils: used for automatic baling machinery, the size can vary from 2-4 mm in diameter and they can be produced to suit the requirements of the customer.  Cut bars: known for their strength and malleability, these are most commonly used in the galvanised industry and can also be created to the specifications of the client.  Cut and looped: this is a specialised form of wire that is used for manually tying bales of waste. The length and diameter can again be supplied according to the customer’s needs. The strength and durability of black annealed wire means it is a product that is used extensively in the industrial sector, in a number of industries. Due to its flexibility, for example, it is often used in construction to reinforce concrete. As concrete is a rigid and brittle material, panels of mesh wire can be placed inside the concrete to help increase its tensility and prevent it from breaking or cracking too easily. Annealed wire can then be used to fix the panels together to stop them from bending or bowing under the weight of the concrete when it is poured onto them. However, it is predominantly used as a baling or tie wire, meaning it is of huge use in sectors such as packaging. This is particularly the case in industries like textiles, where the wire can be used to package materials without cutting into them or in anyway risking damage. The recycling and waste management industries are also two of the prime sectors which use black annealed wire. Once waste has been sorted into recyclable goods and general waste, it is a vital part of the process. For recycling, the separated, sorted and cleaned products are then contained using the annealed wire. Whether it’s cardboard or scrap metal, annealed wire, in conjunction with automated baling machines, can then be used to compress the materials into bales that are of a uniform size. This means they are then safe to handle, transport and far easier to store, as they take up much less space than the loose materials would have. In turn, this can then save money on storage space. The same method is applied to waste. Once the rubbish has been consigned as general waste that can’t be recycled or reused, compressing it into safe bundles means it too takes up considerably less space and is then easy to dispose of more efficiently.Beyond the professional industrial sectors though, it still has its uses: it’s popular for use in home improvement and DIY projects. As a multifunctional product, it can be used for anything from construction work to mending a fence. It’s also been commandeered in the more creative industries, with black annealed wire art available and even jewellery made from it.So, with its high functionality, durability and flexibility, plus the ability to tailor it your specific requirements in length, gauge, thickness and form, it’s no wonder black annealing wire is such an essential product to so many industries. The chances are, it will be right for your jobs too.
