MOREAUINDUSTRIESMOREAUINDUSTRIES What is the point of an FLRA? April 10, 2013

MOREAUINDUSTRIES Agenda • What is an FLRA? • Why do we fill them out? • What is the process? • Why do we need to revisit them? • When in doubt… • What do you think?

MOREAUINDUSTRIES Consider this…

MOREAUINDUSTRIES Or this…

MOREAUINDUSTRIES Or this…

MOREAUINDUSTRIES Or this…

MOREAUINDUSTRIES Or even this.

MOREAUINDUSTRIES What is an FLRA? • A tactical weapon to counteract the negative occurrences that affect a risk and loss prevention strategy. • It is a hazard identification and control plan- your work plan for safety. • An Administrative Control. • Conducted in the field and covers your tasks for the day. • Complements the JHA.

MOREAUINDUSTRIES FLRA Process (Identify) • Do I clearly understand my task? • Am I physically and mentally prepared to do the task? • What could go wrong? • Is there a risk to others or me? • What can change and create a new risk? • Could other crews, workers, or conditions pose risks to me?

MOREAUINDUSTRIES FLRA Process (Assess) • How bad could this be? What would the consequence(s) be? • How likely is it to happen?

MOREAUINDUSTRIES FLRA Process (Control) • What can I do to control the hazard? • Are permits, written practices, procedures, etc. required? • Will the control affect another part of the task? • Do I need to tell anyone else? • Are emergency response plans required? • Who should I contact for help?

MOREAUINDUSTRIES FLRA Process

MOREAUINDUSTRIES Why do we fill them out? • To better plan work, understand our surroundings, and protect yourself and your crew. • Due diligence  C.Y.A  Safety audits  Safety program improvements

MOREAUINDUSTRIES Why do we fill them out? (cont.) • Protect yourself and your co-workers. • Protect company and client property. • Lower incident rates = more work.

MOREAUINDUSTRIES Why do we need to revisit them? • Things change.  Tasks change.  Tools change.  Work areas change.  Other crews around you change. • Change is constant so revisit often or make up a new FLRA.

MOREAUINDUSTRIES When in Doubt… • Contact your supervisor.
