The Acronym MOOC Stands for “Massive Open Online Course( s )” Originated in 2008 with the Open Education Resources Movement ( OER) ( Open Educational Resource, Hewlett Foundation).

Where did the term come from? The term was coined by Dave Cormier and Bryan Alexander in 2008. This was done in response to a course called “Connectivism and Connective knowledge (CCKO8)”.
