Welcome to Business Law!: Welcome to Business Law! Prof. Brent Halbleib Prof. Brent Halbleib, JD: Prof. Brent Halbleib, JD A little bit about me--I graduated from Washington University School of Law in 1994 with a J.D. I am licensed to practice law in Illinois. I am originally from Kansas/Missouri, but currently live and practice law in Chicago, Illinois. My first job out of law school was at a St. Louis law firm representing the employer in Workers' Compensation cases. As a new attorney, I took depositions of medical experts, tried cases before Illinois and Missouri arbitrators, and engaged in settlement negotiations. I had to jump right into things, but the experience was great! I worked there for around 7 years. I then moved to Chicago (my wife is a native Chicagoan) and began working for a similar type of law firm. I worked there for more than 11 years. I later began working as in house counsel at an insurance company handling the defense of workers compensation claims. I have been doing this for 4 years now! I enjoy teaching paralegals, as well! I am sure that I will get to know you through our seminars and the discussion board! Course Information: Course Information Your participation in this course is highly valued. The discussion boards and seminars are excellent opportunities to converse with one another about the work and to get to know each other better. Looking forward to a great term!!!
