Why WebQuests can be useful in L2 teaching? Malba Barahona

What is a webquest? A Webquest is “an inquiry-oriented activity in which most or all of the information used by learners is drawn from the Web. WebQuests are designed to use learners'time well, to focus on using information rather than looking for it, and to support learners' thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis, and evaluation (Dodge, 1995).”

Model for writing WebQuests Dodge (2001) proposes the following principles when designing a webquest: “find great sites; orchestrate your learners and resources; challenge your learners to think; use the medium and scaffold high expectations. A Webquest usually contains the following (Dodge,1995) components: an introduction (why we are doing this) tasks (what is supposed to be accomplished) process (how to go about it) an evaluative and concluding section.

Model of WebQuests
