Vitamins Schmitamins There is a common belief held by the population that all supplements are created equal. This has led some to seek the best value, not the best quality. A consumer should know that the grade, form, purity, bioavailability and third party verification all contribute to the effectiveness of the product they're ingesting.

Vitamin Grades Nutritional supplements are typically available in four different categories: • pharmaceutical grade • medical grade • cosmetic or nutritional grade • feed or agricultural grade.

Vitamin Grades (cont.) Feed or Agricultural Grade: Supplements are produced for veterinary use, and patients should not use this grade of supplement

Vitamin Grades (cont.) Cosmetic or Nutritional Grade: Supplements are typically sold in health food stores. These supplements might not always be tested for absorption, dissolution or purity. Additionally, these supplements do not always have the same concentrations of active ingredients as what is listed on the label.

Vitamin Grades (cont.) Medical Grade: Vitamins are also a high-grade vitamin, although they may not meet all of the standards of pharmaceutical grade vitamins. Prenatal vitamins typically fall into this category.

Vitamin Grades (cont.) Pharmaceutical Grade: The highest quality grade of vitamins, meaning the purity, dissolution and absorption meet the highest regulatory standard verified by an outside party. Pharmaceutical grade vitamins may be available without a prescription, but they are typically only sold by licensed health care practitioners.

Pharmaceutical Grade These are usually only sold by a licensed health care practitioner such as a doctor, nurse practitioner, compounding pharmacist or chiropractor. The manufacturers of pharmaceutical grade supplements know their high quality products can have a profound effect on an individual’s health; therefore, they want a licensed health care practitioner monitoring the use of their product.

The ability for your vitamin to work properly can vary greatly depending on the form used. An example of this is the difference between natural or synthetic vitamin E. Natural vitamin E is absorbed better from the GI tract and is more active than its synthetic counterpart. Magnesium aspartate is better absorbed and more bioavailable then magnesium oxide, but some manufacturers of lower-grade supplements use the oxide form because it takes up less room in the capsule or tablet and is less expensive. Purity is another important quality. All vitamins should be screened for impurities such as lead, mercury, pesticides, insecticides or other toxic ingredients. Why is Grade Important?

How Vitamins Work With HRT They work in concert not only with other hormones but with the nutrients that we eat. The reason people need to take vitamins is that food today is extremely nutritionally depleted even in the best quality foods. One of the side effects of hormone replacement therapy is that they speed up the metabolism which means the body needs more nutrition, more nutrients, more minerals, and more vitamins then it would if you were not taking hormones. A woman will need more protein, more calories, and more essential fats, like fish oil. She definitely will need more minerals. She will especially need more vitamin C. So the value of taking extra minerals and vitamins and supplements is to hedge your bets against the prevailing malnutrition one would get if you ate the food that is now available on this planet.

How Vitamins Work With HRT The inner workings of every organ system is dependent on the nutrition we have. The various anti-inflammatory substances made by our body are dependent on nutrition. Superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase. These substances are extremely important in not only detoxification of toxins but also detoxifying estrogen and dealing with estrogen metabolites. This is why the hormones don't work well without really good nutrition and making sure that you are eating the very best way that is optimal for our bodies to function.

RegeneMax™ provides ch-OSA® (choline- stabilized orthosilicic acid), that helps naturally nourish your body’s beauty proteins. Regular orthosilicic acid is highly unstable, leading it to form polymers. These polymers are too large for the human body to absorb. But the patented “choline stabilization” technology in RegeneMax prevents the polymers from forming, ensuring optimal absorption. RegeneMax has been formulated with clinically proven ch-OSA for your assurance.

ActivEssentials™ for Women is a combination of four targeted nutritional formulas packaged together to provide convenient and comprehensive nutritional support.

Estro Harmony™ is for women who want relief from menopausal hot flashes and support for breast health. Research suggests the ingredients in this formula can also benefit cardiovascular status and bone remodeling. This all-natural formula delivers a proprietary blend of plant lignan extract and 8-prenylnaringenin (8-PN) from hops, at clinically relevant levels, to support the body’s natural process of healthy aromatase activity and exert phytoestrogen (e.g., enterolactone) and antioxidant activity.

Hormone Protect™ is an ideal combination of DIM (diindolylmethane) and SGS™ (glucoraphanin) that helps protect estrogen-sensitive tissues by promoting healthy estrogen metabolism and supporting detoxification and neutralization of harmful estrogen metabolites and xenoestrogens.

PMS Soothe™ is a comprehensive blend of Native American and Chinese herbs traditionally used to provide balance and support for a healthy menstrual cycle.

MedCaps Menopause™ is a unique combination blend that is formulated to provide nutritional targeted nourishment for women during menopause. Melatonin CR is a vegetarian formula with a biphasic delivery system that releases melatonin quickly and then steadily. Melatonin CR can support these functions by helping to maintain normal levels of melatonin in the body.

RelaxMax™ is an innovative formula in the form of cherry-flavored, powdered drink mix. It contains a blend of ingredients that supports the body's natural synthesis of catecholamines, the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA, hormonal balance, and healthy glucose metabolism. RelaxMax aims to promote a calm, relaxed, well-balanced emotional and physiological state.

The XYMOGEN Mitochondrial Renewal Kit (MRK) is formulated to support and promote mitochondrial biogenesis and function. MRK supplies three active, orally bioavailable formulations—N.O.max ER™, Resveratin™ Plus, and ALAmax CR™—which function synergistically to support the critical role that mitochondria play in metabolism. The patented functional components found in the MRK are safe, well-tolerated, and have been uniquely prepared to enhance both absorption and overall bioavailability in order to maximize patient benefit and satisfaction.

As you chew it releases the safe and powerful DDS-18™ strain of Streptococcus salivarius—a beneficial bacterium that normally occurs in a healthy oral cavity. S salivarius DDS-18 then attaches to cells in the oral cavity and colonizes, positively affecting the bacterial population therein and naturally defending the teeth and gums.
