 Transfer to a 4-year university to earn a Bachelor of Arts/Science Degree (B.A./B.S.)  Earn an Associate of Science/Arts Degree (A.S./A.A.)  Complete a VVC Certificate  Take classes for personal interest/growth

 Certificates ◦ Certificates of Achievement ◦ Certificates of Career Preparation  Degrees ◦ Associate of Arts ◦ Associate of Science

 Certificates of Achievement ◦ Consist of 18 or more units of coursework. ◦ Recorded on a student’s official transcript.  Certificates of Career Preparation ◦ Require less than 18 units of coursework. ◦ Not recorded on the student’s official transcript.

 With careful planning, students may simultaneously meet the requirements for both a certificate and degree.

 The Liberal Arts program provides a well- rounded education.  May be a good option for transfer students.  Use the Associate Degree in Liberal Arts planning form in conjunction with the Associate degree Graduation Requirements form to plan your program.

‣ Associate in Science degrees are awarded in Math/Science and various technical areas. ‣ Some of these programs require specific courses and more than 18 units to complete the major. ‣ Some programs also require an application and admission. Please review the college catalog for specific program requirements.

 Students who wish to transfer to a four year college or university should select classes for their Associates Degree that simultaneously satisfy their university’s lower division requirements.  If you plan to transfer, please review the Transfer Advisement Session for more information on transfer requirements.

 Students completing an A.A.-T or A.S.-T are guaranteed admission to the CSU system but not to a particular campus or major.  Please view the college catalog for degrees currently offered.

 The Victor Valley College Associate Degree in Nursing program enables students to take the NCLEX exam in order to become a licensed registered nurse.  The enrollment process including application deadlines and program details can be found by visiting the Nursing Department.  Prerequisites must be completed before a student can apply to the Nursing Program.

 Associate Degree ◦ Follow the VVC Associate Degree graduation requirements.  Transfer ◦ Consult the CSU General Education requirements for the CSU system. ◦ Consult the IGETC for the University of California (UC) system. ◦ View the online Transfer Advisement Session for more information on transfer.  Certificate ◦ General education is not required if you want to complete a certificate alone.

 Choose electives to reach the minimum of 60 units.  Review the schedule or catalog to determine the transferability of electives.  Sample description from the VVC schedule. This indicates transferability to both CSU and UC.

Consider the Following:  Time commitment ◦ Full time/Part time status ◦ Work load ◦ Outside commitments  Financial Aid  Assessment Results (English & math)  Pay attention to important dates listed in the schedule.

 Balance work & school ◦ Working 0-10 hours, recommend 15-17 units ◦ Working 10-20 hours, recommend 12-15 units ◦ Working 20-30 hours, recommend 6-12 units ◦ Working 30-40 hours, recommend 1-6 units  1 unit of lecture = 3 hours per week  12 units = 36 hours
