The company’s head office is based in Harpenden, Hertfordshire and provides a base for over 150 employees. In addition, Plowman Craven also has an office in London MSFT Software and Services  Microsoft Office − Hosted Skype for Business (VIA)  Office 365 − SharePoint − Exchange Executive Summary Leading chartered surveyors Plowman Craven deployed a cloud- based communications system from VIA to improve how its workforce communicated with each other and shared information, regardless of location. Challenge With a growing number of employees, based across two offices and in the field, Plowman Craven wanted to replace its traditional Mitel 3300 telephone system with a solution that would help to better connect its workforce. The company also sought further efficiencies around document and data sharing. Solution After a competitive tender process, Plowman Craven opted to deploy a cloud-based communications system from VIA. The VIA Voice solution - which incorporates Microsoft Skype for Business - was personalised to fit the requirements of the business and additional bespoke functionality was added to provide the company with a product that ticked all the boxes. The platform allows staff to talk, instant message and email each other across a variety of devices, such as landlines, smartphones, PCs and tablets. By having a number of communication tools at their disposal, employees can now work as a single cohesive unit, regardless of their location. Plowman Craven has also been able to improve efficiency within the workplace by utilising the system’s collaboration features, including an interactive whiteboard, document sharing and conferencing. In addition, VIA Voice comes complete with a unique portal that allows real-time management, which lets Plowman Craven observe trends, evaluate the usage and productivity of its employees, plus monitor costs. As a result communications have improved between Plowman Craven’s field-based employees with those working in the company’s offices in London and Harpenden.
