Aquiris, the Brussels-North wastewater treatment plant in Belgium, has installed a 3 MW solar energy plant on the roof of the plant. Equivalent in area to five football pitches, this is currently the largest solar park in the Brussels-Capital region.

VACON CASE STUDY GENERATING SOLAR ENERGY AT A WATER TREATMENT PLANT CHALLENGE: • Green Invest, an investment company in the environmental sustainability sector, provided EUR 6 million for a 3 MW solar energy plant to be installed on the roof of the wastewater treatment plant. • The water turbine, biogas production and solar energy plant together provide about 25% of the total electricity consumption of the plant. 3 www.vacon.com

VACON CASE STUDY GENERATING SOLAR ENERGY AT A WATER TREATMENT PLANT SOLUTION: • Vacon supplied three 1 MW VACON® 8000 SOLAR Multimaster inverters for the project. • Vacon’s Multimaster concept means that in an installation with several inverters, the inverters are controlled so that only the number required at any specific time are used, improving efficiency, reliability and grid stability. • VACON® 8000 SOLAR inverters also provide clean power, with total current harmonics of THDi < 3%. The inverters have a nominal output of 280 VAC, which is then fed into the solar plant’s grid via a MV transformer on the 11 kV grid at the customer’s site. 4 www.vacon.com
