Your LinkedIn Profile • Profile has seven main Sections: – – – – – – – Header Activity Background Recommendations Connections Groups Following
Your LinkedIn Profile • Update your Headline – describe what you do, rather than list your job title • Update your Background – this is an opportunity to tell people about your skills and accomplishments
Your LinkedIn Profile • In your background, include – Any major projects you’ve work on – Any organizations you’ve belong to • Recommendations from others will also be displayed
Your LinkedIn Profile • Organizations will also list separately with more detail about your role • Projects will list separately – Add colleagues who worked on the project with you – Describe the project and list the results accomplished.
Your LinkedIn Profile • Add key skills that you possess – Your connections can then endorse you for them
Your LinkedIn Profile • Add your educational background
LinkedIn Groups • Search for groups that are in an area of interest • View the groups that you are interested in • Join the group if they match your interests needs – Open vs. Closed
LinkedIn Groups • Start or join a conversation – Post articles the group may be interested in – Ask questions about industry trends
Follow Companies on LinkedIn • Search for companies that you would like to work with • Follow them to stay on top of their activities online
Follow Companies on LinkedIn • View their company page to see how you are connected to that company – You may find 2nd or 3rd degree connections that can get you an introduction
Your LinkedIn Newsfeed • Your LinkedIn account also has a newsfeed, similar to Facebooks – Add activities here to communicate with your connections – You’ll also see updates from your connections, groups you belong to and companies you follow
