Part of your job will be to develop the role, which is new, therefore we are looking for creative approaches, initiative and collaboration. The aim is to work with prospective special guardians and improve services to them and children placed with them. Special guardians may be members of a child’s family/friendship group or be current foster carers for the child. The focus of the role is on development and support services. Based within the adoption team and involved in the assessment of special guardians. You will need to work closely with colleagues in fieldwork and other agencies. LAC teams will retain responsibility for the child. Long-term - salary range: £31,000 - £34,000 - VR931 We are looking for very experienced Social Workers who enjoy working with younger children and families and planning for permanence for children, which may be adoption or permanence outside the family. This role requires substantial and complex court work. Peripatetic, experienced Social Worker - salary range: £31,000 - £34,000 - VR935 We are looking for an experienced fieldwork child care Social Worker who can undertake child protection work and court work and who could be flexible enough to work across teams or would be prepared to move teams as the need arises in different teams. There are a number of jobs for qualified Social Workers at “basic grade” and manager level. You would be working in the Children’s and Families Services for a Local Authority. You would be office based and expected to travel around the district to carry out your work. Your position would not be in one specific team and your work would include: contacts; investigating referrals when there are concerns for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people; working with “Children in Need” and their families; Child Protection (where there are significant concerns about the safety and wellbeing of children and young people); working with Looked After Children (in the early stages of
children and young people being taken into the care of the local authority) and representing the local authority in court and meetings. Levels of deprivation and child poverty are very high in this area and the levels are expected to increase following Government reforms which will affect the benefit system.
