March 2014 THE{FULL}LIFE TOUCHMARK AT HARWOOD GROVES Love can happen when you least expect it— and it can last a lifetime John & Norma Finnie - “Mother knows best” The saying “mother knows best” applies to how John and Norman Finnies met. John’s stepfather was the chauffer for the NDSU president, who was Norma’s uncle. One day, John’s mother told Norma, “You need to meet my Johnny when he gets home from the service.” Norma describes the moment she met John. “Here was this tall drink of water in full-length Army uniform, and I thought, ‘Well ... maybe this will work.’” Indeed it did. John and Norma celebrated their 62nd anniversary last August. Irving & Alaine Naas - “I guess we always knew we belonged together.” Irving and Alaine Naas can’t remember not knowing each other. In fact, they’ve known each since they were babies. Both grew up in McVille and went to Our Savior Church. One day they started walking down the road together, and they have been inseparable since. “I guess we always knew we belonged together,” says Alaine. The couple will celebrate 71 years of marriage this month. Jim & Joyce Holter - “Love at first sight” In February 1953, Jim’s fraternity and Joyce’s sorority got together to plan the Bison Brevities Spring Show. From across the room, Jim spotted Joyce and immediately thought, “My God, she’s beautiful!” He walked over to her, and the rest is history. Jim walked Joyce home later that evening, stopping at the Hasty Tasty for a bite to eat long the way. The Holters will celebrate their 60th anniversary in June. Discover. Play. Learn. All are invited to fun presentations and events! The {FULL} Life Series starts March 19 at 4 pm with presentations by The Touchmark Choir and Erv Inniger (pictured), the former championship coach and current senior associate athletic director at North Dakota State University. See back page for details about the MIND{FULL} event.

CAPTURING DELIGHT{FULL} MOMENTS Look for more photos on Facebook. Perfect timing for the cold weather: a chili-tasting competition with nine different entries and eight different breads, all provided by Touchmark staff. The Maintenance team surprised everyone by serving muchloved chili dogs. The afternoon wrapped up as the ballots for best chili and best bread were announced: Katie’s Home Grown Chili (pictured) and Mark’s Golden Cornbread won. The popular event raised $330 for the local Alzheimer’s Association. Although not a single record was broken, Fargo did have a streak of 21 days of zero-orlower temperatures. To heat things up a bit, residents made Cranberry Hootycreeks. They make a wonderful gift when the ingredients are packed in jars, and a group of ladies gathered to make these delicious cookies. Check out the recipe: http://allrecipes.com/recipe/ cranberry-hootycreeks/.
