To Be Liberal To be liberal is not to be socialist. To be liberal is to be liberal. To be socialist is to be socialist. I’m a liberal capitalist. I have absolutely nothing to do with, nor do I endorse the tenants of Marxism or Socialism. I am not socialist. I’m a socially responsible capitalist. I’m a populist. I’m for what’s best for the most. I don’t think that is Socialism; I think that’s noble. And anything shy of that, any President that disagrees and does not share in that ideology has no right being the president of the United States, nor holding any leadership position of any form for that matter. What it means to be Liberal What is a liberal? If asked chances are only few people could offer a good definition. Even a smaller minority would offer a favorable definition due to the demonization of the word liberal by our conservative owned and dominated media. The intent of this book is to explain liberal ideology. The word Liberal and its definition have been the bastardized by decades long, well-coordinated attacks by the right wing and their control of so much of the information most Americans receive as news. The truth is Liberalism is progressive, and conservative is conservative. Liberalism has led every meaningful social advancement the human race has experienced throughout all modern history. Conversely, conservatism has held the progression of the human race in every nation, in every culture, throughout all of modern history. That’s it. All you have to do is just remember the previous two sentences, that way you’ll save yourself the trouble of reading this book that illustrates, and proves exactly what was just said. But if you’d like to hear more; if you’d like to shed light on the truth and watch conservatives scatter like roaches? By all means turn the page. -‐ DUNBAR MERRILL, AUTHOR: “CRAZY SH*T REPUBLICANS SAY”
If by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the peopletheir health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights and their civil liberties-someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal", then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal.” - JFK, Profiles in Courage
