The cycle of time

In the Vishnu Purana there is a mythological story about sage Narada asking Lord Vishnu to tell why people are deluded into profane time when all along they could function in sacred time . Lord vishnu offers to do so, but asks Narada, in the meantime, to fetch a cup of water. Narada goes to the nearest house, knocks on the door to ask for water. A beautiful woman opens the door. Narada is captivated by her charm forgets about water for the Lord. They get married and two beautiful children arrive in successive years. While they are living in conveniently, suddenly a flood engulfed their home. It becomes so strong that one child, then second child and his wife are swept away. Narada is barely able to hold on a tree and shocked terribly by the tragedy that has befallen him. While waiting thus, he hears Vishnu’s call asking him “where is the water” as he is still thirty. Narada suddenly realizes that he was all the while standing on the firm ground and only a few moments had passed.

Timescape Timescape is a vista or expanse of time that all of us agree on. Time sense that may be an illusion causing us to think that something that has happened is happening now, or will happen again. Subjective time The feeling that time has passed too quickly or perhaps too slowly but when one finds rhythm in work, sense of time gets lost. On the other hand time seems to go too slowly when one finds himself in an embarrassing situation. Objective time It’s the “thing” that we believe to be measurable by clocks and in terma of rhythm or frequency.

LINEAR TIME Linear time, pertaining to or represented by lines. Linear time is simply the view that time stretches onward into space; that it cannot be stopped, and one cannot see the end of it, because time is infinite When experienced through the linear concept of time it seems that they have a duration. We give our walk the sense of duration when we experience it through the linear concept of time. We are getting older in physical space only Linear time, pertaining to or represented by lines and not in space-time. It implies even though something in universe repeats, it never repeats itself in the same way. This sense that something is changes gives us an experience of “time passing” and we learn to see that experience in terms of straight line.

CYCLICAL TIME Everything “begins to end, ends to begin” The process of creation moves in cycles. Kalachakra , the cycle of time is created in order to create divisions and movements of life and sustain the worlds in periodic time frames. Time is used to create the 'illusions' of life and death. It is time, which is accountable for old age, death and dying of creations. When we overcome time, we become immortal. Death is not the end of the line, but a gateway to the next cycle, to birth . This is also true of the universe itself and akin to the cyclic patterns in the rhythms of nature. Kalachakra deity

According to Hindu scriptures, all mortal beings are destined to pass through four great epochs in every cycle of creation and destruction. This divine cycle turns full-circle at the end of what is known as kalpa . A kalpa is a yuga cycle, which is a period of 10,000 divine years, which is equal to a daytime for Lord Brahma, the creator of the universe. These scriptures put Brahma's age at 100 years in his unique time scale. Therefore Brahma's life span is equal to 311,040,000,000,000 human years . This period in named as maha kalpa .

A universe lasts only for one maha kalpa period. At the end of it the universe is destroyed together with Brahma and a new universe with a new Brahma would be created. This cycle goes on endlessly. The Vedic universe passes through repetitive cycles of creation and destruction. During the annihilation of the universe, energy is conserved, to manifest again in the next creation.

The four great epochs in Hinduism are: Satya Yuga Treta Yuga Dwapar Yuga Kali Yuga . Satya Yug or the Age of Truth is said to last for four thousand divine years, Treta Yuga for three thousand, Dwapara Yug for two thousand and Kali Yuga will last for one thousand divine Years that equals to 432,000 earthly years. It is also believed that three of these great ages have already passed away, and we are now living in the kali yuga. All these four Yugas together is called a Chatur Yuga , which means "four epochs". 71 cycles of Chatur Yuga is called a manvantara . At the end of each manvantara period, there comes a partial devastation period, which is equivalant to the duration of krita yuga . This means after every manvantara period, the world is partially destroyed and recreated. In this cyclic process of time, 1000 chatur yuga period is called a Kalpa , this time period is equal to a daytime for Brahma. ABOUT THE FOUR YUGAS

'Dreaming' refers to the initial transformation but because this transformation is still happening the 'Dreaming' is a present event. Thus the term 'Dreaming', is a plurivocal term referring to a past event [demninio] and an ongoing event [demninio]; the initial creation [ 'Dreamtime'] and the ongoing creation. DREAMING

DREAMTIME In Australian Aboriginal mythology the dreaming or Altjeringa (also called the Dreamtime) is a sacred'once upon a time' . They believe that every person in an essential way exists eternally in the Dreaming. This eternal part existed before the life of the individual begins, and continues to exist when the life of the individual ends. Both before and after life, it is believed that this spirit-child exists in the Dreaming and is only initiated into life by being born through a mother. We can deduce that all of past, present and future coexist in the Dreamtime as if in the parallel worlds of experience.

ARTIST’S REPRESENTATION OF DREAMTIME - Janet Nala Forrester In Aboriginal life where people sleep under the stars, the night sky is dominating. All over Australia, it is believed that the stars and planets were once men, women and animals in the Creation Time. The Milky Way is considered by the Aborigines as a visual representation of the microcosm within and tracking the inner self is knowing the pathways of the Milky Way.

Dreamtime is eternal and timeless, and so are the spirits of the people linked with it. There is no division between time and eternity; all time is essentially present time. Witch Queen, you know of my imprisonment, of my travail of the time that was stolen from me – They have stolen time from you? What of that ? You have all the time that ever was! MORPHEUS: MAIDEN:

The Sandman - Neil Gaiman

The Sandman - Neil Gaiman

It is the year 1985. Marty McFly, a mild-mannered high school student, stopped by Dr. Emmett L. Brown's laboratory to play around with an amplifier. Then he receives a message from Doc that he needs help from him for Doc's latest invention, a time machine made out of a DeLorean sports car that can travel through time instantaneously when it reaches a speed velocity of 88 MPH. Then, Doc was gunned down by Libyan Nationalists, Marty makes an effort to escape from the Lybians by using the time machine. Then Marty accidentally warps himself into 1955. Where he meets both of his parents when they were teenagers, then Marty unintentionally interrupts his parent's first meeting together, he then finds a younger version of Doc and together they try to find a way to get Marty's parents-to-be back together, and to get Marty back to 1985. Back to the future

The Jetsons meet The Flintstones Fred Flintstone and George Jetson have some things in common: They have back breaking jobs and families to support, but they soon find out a little more about one another one peculiar day when George Jetson's son Elroy builds a time machine, the family thinks it a joke but agrees to try it out anyway. It was built to take them further into the future, but instead (thanks to Astro) they get sent back to Prehistorica Days. Back to the town of Bedrock. On vacation, Fred and Wilma Flintstone, Barney and Betty Rubble, meet the Jetsons and think them to be beings from another universe. Fred passes George off as his cousin and all goes well, until the time machine accidentally transports the Flintstones into the future

Karma gyan Karma in sanskrit means “to do”. The term karma is used in several eastern religions referring to the entire cycle of “cause and effect” which governs the human life. Karma literally means “deed” or “act” and is associated with earthly existence. The concept of karma in Indian philosophy and religion is inextricably as associated with the doctrine of rebirth, or reincarnation. According to the law of Karma a person’s individual and collective actions determine the nature of his or her future existence in the present life or in a future life. Karma and freewill The doctrine of karma implies that every soul embodied in a human being has the will to make decisions and choose what actions to take. Those decisions and actions generate karma which determines the future circumstances of that soul’s earthly existence. Hence comes the notion of “good time” and “bad time” and the principle of rebirth.
