A NEW ETERNAL FAMILY Mar 3:31-35 NASB (31) Then His mother and His brothers arrived, and standing outside they sent word to Him and called Him. (32) A crowd was sitting around Him, and they said to Him, "Behold, Your mother and Your brothers are outside looking for You." (33) Answering them, He said, "Who are My mother and My brothers?" (34) Looking about at those who were sitting around Him, He said, "Behold My mother and My brothers! (35) "For whoever does the will of God, he is My brother and sister and mother."
ANOTHER MOM LOST HER SON Luk 7:11-15 NASB (11) Soon afterwards He went to a city called Nain; and His disciples were going along with Him, accompanied by a large crowd. (12) Now as He approached the gate of the city, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a sizeable crowd from the city was with her. (13) When the Lord saw her, He felt compassion for her, and said to her, "Do not weep." (14) And He came up and touched the coffin; and the bearers came to a halt. And He said, "Young man, I say to you, arise!" (15) The dead man sat up and began to speak. And Jesus gave him back to his mother.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR US? Community, “Church family” Taking people into our home Life long commitment Living life together, not just “church life” Forgiveness Moving past those who have left us, hurt us Moving beyond our own failures and limits
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR US? Hope God has a place for us when our “natural” means fail God takes the isolated, deserted, left behind and welcomes them into His family Fear Not Christ like transformation includes being made into someone who cares for others AND being made into someone who allows others to care for you
JOHN 19:26-27 (26) When Jesus then saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold, your son!" (27) Then He said to the disciple, "Behold, your mother!" From that hour the disciple took her into his own household.
SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES Listen to the Lord for His directions concerning caring for others. Even if you feel inadequate, turn to the Lord and seek His ability in your weakness. Wait before the Lord and see if your independence is separating you from the family of God. Are you practicing the humility of being lovable? This week when you encounter pain, loss or isolation; pray “Thy kingdom come Thy will be done” and look for His family.
