Pre-test Post-test Results/Discussion : Results/Discussion “The reflection of null hypotheses shows that word-formation does play a role in language learning and it has a positive impact on reading comprehension.” “Correlation coefficient was used to show the degree of relationship between the knowledge of word- formation and better reading comprehension.” Pedagogical implications : Pedagogical implications “Through research the scholars are finding that lexical problems frequently interfere with communication; communication breaks down when people do not use the right word. (Allen, 1983)” “In teaching vocabulary, language teachers use different strategies according to the age, level and background knowledge of the students.” Slide 9: Grellet (1981): discusses one of the useful reading practice techniques as to have students work their way through comprehension problems by inferring the meaning through word formation and context. “Language teachers shall encourage students to guess, to tolerate ambiguity, to link ideas, to paraphrase, and to summarize so that stop dwelling in isolated words often not provide comprehension (Chastain, 1988).”
