A Gluten Free Diet is essential for those with celiac disease as their digestive system cannot handle gluten. Gluten is an ingredient that is added in food products (especially wheat and grain products) to increase the elasticity and rise of the bread. Eating too much gluten could result in a reaction from the body.

Quick Diet Review: The Gluten Free Diet Brought to you by:

What is it? ➔ This way of dieting is to simply avoid any food product with gluten in it. As a more hyped up diet, a gluten free diet is for people with coeliac disease and does not help weight loss. Gluten is a protein found in processed grain products. It is the one responsible for the elasticity, and the rising of baked products. The more a company adds gluten into their baking, the more they can control the form and property of the finalized product.

What is it? (Con't) ➔ People who have celiac disease and gluten allergies are sensitive to gluten. Having a gluten allergy will have a person’s body to react negatively to gluten. Coeliac disease on the other hand is the inability to absorb the proper amount of nutrients in the small intestine. To follow this “diet” means to avoid all grain related products or to resort to eating gluten free foods.

The Pros A need for people who have a gluten allergy or coeliac disease A possible avoidance of baked products

The Cons ➔ ➔ ➔ It will not aid weight loss Bad grain products can be made without gluten Still promotes foods high in carbohydrates
