Description

Language, emotion, ability to learn? What makes us different? Test these claims, see if they have the answer!

6 TESTING CLAIMS Collective Learning There is a lot of discussion as to what, exactly, makes humans different. In this course, we explore the concept of collective learning and demonstrate how it makes humans different from other animals. Use this “ballot card” to vote on the truth of each statement and to make notes as to why you believe something is true, false, or needs more information to fairly decide. An example of collective learning can be seen when a lioness teaches her cubs to hunt. TRUE FALSE NEED MORE INFO WHY DO YOU THINK THAT? (Which claim testers did you use: authority, evidence, intuition, logic?) The human ability to use language has not played an important role in the development of collective learning. TRUE FALSE NEED MORE INFO WHY DO YOU THINK THAT? (Which claim testers did you use: authority, evidence, intuition, logic?) Humans are the only species with the ability to learn collectively. TRUE FALSE NEED MORE INFO WHY DO YOU THINK THAT? (Which claim testers did you use: authority, evidence, intuition, logic?) Collective learning has not empowered humans. TRUE FALSE NEED MORE INFO WHY DO YOU THINK THAT? (Which claim testers did you use: authority, evidence, intuition, logic?) Collective learning should not be our sixth threshold of increasing complexity. TRUE FALSE NEED MORE INFO WHY DO YOU THINK THAT? (Which claim testers did you use: authority, evidence, intuition, logic?) BIG HISTORY PROJECT / UNIT 6 TESTING CLAIMS 1
