If you thought that is was about a family reading, you were correct! : If you thought that is was about a family reading, you were correct! There are a mother, father, and child, so this is a family. They are holding a book, so they are probably reading. So it should be obvious that this is a family who reads and likes to read. Think about the main idea you get from this picture and what supports your reaction. : Think about the main idea you get from this picture and what supports your reaction. Did you notice? : Did you notice? That the people in the picture are Indians? That it is obviously winter? How many people do you count? Does that make this a clan or a tribe? Why? Why do you think they are moving? What clues do you see to support your sense of why they are out on such a cold day? What are the supporting details in the picture? : What are the supporting details in the picture? Did you notice? : Did you notice? The details that tell you this is a football player? Read this paragraph and look for supporting details… : Read this paragraph and look for supporting details… Persian rugs are world famous for their intricate designs and beautiful colors. The traditional rugs are hand woven from wool and silk, just as they have been for over two thousand years in what is now known as Iran. Some of the rugs have as many as one thousand knots per square inch and take as long as two years to make. We have all seen these rugs, or copies of them, in stores or on floors. Their designs are usually geometric patterns in bright colors. The rugs have been popular in the West since European crusaders returned from the Holy Land with them as souvenirs. But what makes them especially interesting is that in every one of those beautiful rugs there is a mistake. Every rug contains a flaw or imperfection. That is because, from the birth of Islam, Persians (who we now refer to as Iranians) believe that only God is perfect. Therefore, even an exquisite rug, because it is made by people , should not attempt to be perfect. So every rugmaker always drops a stitch or knot when making a rug as a reminder that man is imperfect and God is not. Did you notice these words? : Did you notice these words?
