General Gender Ratio (GGR) No. of males per 1000 females Sensitive indicator ,displays equality between males and females In gender ratio is defined as  No of females per 1000 males  940 females per 1000 males (2011)

GGR of 945 (since 1961) 941 940 940 934 935 930 933 927 930 925 920 1961 Source : Census of 1971 2011 1981 1991 2001 2011 GGR

Study in Nandambakkam Objective of the study To analyze the level of CGR in the community To compare CGR in regional trends To estimate the future scenarios of CGR

Methodology Well trained team of 29 MBBS students of Sri Muthukumran Medical college & RI Nandambakkam of Kanchipuram District of Tamil Nadu  Interview method using a questionnaire Manpower:{29 x 3hrs x 3 days}= 261 Man Hrs Data analysis& Interpretation- PASW Statistics-18

Linearity between Female Literacy &Prop.of Female Child Popn in Dists. Of TamilNadu r = 0.702, r 2 = 0.498 , % of r 2 =49.3 & p<0.001 Source :

Discussion • Increase of female child population of to Tamil Nadu (47.8% to 48.6%), statistically very highly significant (P<0.001), • Tamil Nadu to Kanchipuram District (48.6% to 49.2%) is also statistically very highly significant (P<0.001), • Kanchipuram District to Study population (49.2% to 51.3%) is statistically not significant (P>0.05), since the sample size is small.

Discussion cont….. • Linearity between female Literacy and proportion of female chlild popn in Tamilnadu is (r = 0.702, r 2 = 0.498 , % of r 2 =49.3 & p<0.001) • Female literacy impact on child population is 49.3% “”Educate a gril child You educate a nation””

Conclusion Futures scenarios Literacy & empowerment of women increase CGR, ultimately GGR will also be balanced The way forward………. GGR of India will marginally increase to 952954/1000 Males in 2025* * Source P.N. Mari Bhat,Population Research Centre Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi
