“LifeID” Problem Statement Some global corporations (Google, Amazon) are interested in issuing a new type of ID card (project name “LifeID”) to its employees with ubiquitious computing in mind .Ubiquitous computing (ubicomp) is a post-desktop model of human-computer interaction in which information processing has been thoroughly integrated into everyday objects and activity.By ubiquity we mean contemporary devices that lend some support to this idea, including mobile phones, digital audio players, radio-frequency identification tags, GPS, and interactive whiteboards, all having "natural" interaction paradigm appropriate to a fully robust ubiquity between systems.Specifically the retail and banking requirements of the crisis-management and product specialist teams which travel across the world almost every day are taken care of seamlessly, as they just need to have this ID card for business and financial matters. They aim to streamline the process of meeting the employee needs while travelling, such as purchases, accommodation, retail, etc, on the fly. It is also intended to impart an increased sense of security to the employees. For all intents and purposes the ID will be a joint card between company, retailer and bank, depending on the employees choice of bank and retailer. Then, based on the retailer and bank chosen by the employee, his information will be transmitted to the respective parties. For example, the chip on card will be packaged by the company (Google), the bank (BOI) and the retailer (Tesco). The card is then sent for printing with the selected packages from retailer, bank and company creating the employees ID card (LifeID). Business Requirements The new LifeID cards will be able to be used akin to a credit/debit/retailer/Employee ID card for any paid internal service in the company, automatically deducting from their bank account or salary if necessary, and purchases from a retailer. The aim is to eventually replace the employees debit and credit cards for external services as well, consolidating them into a single ID, requiring less management of separate bills as well as the localisation of services in a more secure package. It will also contain a RFID sensor to enable tracking of employee location in case of emergencies. Given that studies have found a significant portion of travelling induced stress stems from the geopolitical context of the country they are headed to it is hoped that this will reassure employees that the company has their welfare in mind. The LifeID can facilitate an employee's consumer needs in a new country, from shopping at the local retailer to dealing with the bank and, if neccessary, hospital, without the usual inconvenience involved in international transactions. This will also allow the company to track employee attendance, as well as his comings and goings on company property. The payroll/asset mangement/rembrusement software can then be updated appropriately. The card will also contain the employees full details, such as his department, areas of expertise and security clearance. This will work throughout the companies global infrastructure, facilitating seamless transition from onshore workstation to offshore workstation. Also contained on the card will be the employees emergency details, such as any pre-existing conditions and emergency contact numbers. The card will have a jacket covering a biometric scanner. Pressing their thumb to the biometric scanner authenticates his signature. The LifeCard then relays an SMS through the employees phone using mobile software. This will activate the phones GPS and camera, sending his location to the nearest office. With so many services localised into the LifeCard it will also need a high level of security, It will be fully encrypted to the PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
