How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Front Covers: I have represented the artist on my front cover to be stereo typically to the social group that I am aiming for is having her costume that is on trend with what females ages 16-25 wearing a plain tank top, high wasted skater skirt, flower crown, converse and a parker coat. This would represent the social group I want to wear because they would be attracted to it because they would like what she is wearing and is the same age as them so they will feel like they relate to her so they would feel like they should read on. The pose that my artist is posing in is stereotypical to the social group I used because it suggests that they are quite girly but also relaxing because my artist is not over doing her pose, she is just being casual which this is trying to represent the females that are into the genre of music that includes unsigned music. The pose is seen as innocent so the audience knows it is more of a casual magazine that has different kind of genres but is aimed at music that is not well known (unsigned) and that it is not a pop magazine as the pose of my artist would be energetic and lively and if it was a indie/rock it would be a rebellious pose such as not looking straight at the camera. The fonts represent my social group because I have used a lot of dark pinks/reds to show this. This represents my social group that it is mainly aimed at females because the colours are stereotypically aimed at females so if a female aged between 16-25 would know this is aimed at them because the fonts is feminine but also it looks like their age group as the colours of the font are quite vibrant and do stand out. The location shows the representation and stereotype of my social group as it is located in a forest where it is quiet and peaceful which symbolise the genre of music. it is stereotypically represented to this social group because it suggests that they are all into this theme. The location shows the representation and stereotype of my social group as it is located in a forest where it is quiet and peaceful which symbolise the genre of music. it is stereotypically represented to this social group because it suggests that they are all into this theme. The costumes represent this because they are wearing black leather jackets and have their hair styled back which is seen as quite rebellious so this is a stereotypical representation of this social group. The pose also show this is for people that are into indie/rock because they are not looking at the camera (only the lead singer) which is seen as rebellious and challenging this convention. This suggests that the social group that is aimed at is rebellious, wants to be different and like breaking the rules as this is what ideas the pose and costumes of the group give off. The fonts help to represent the stereotypically social group by having big bold cover lines which can be seen as being in the audiences face which cover lines. The masthead challenges the idea of being rebellious (stereotypically like people who are into Indie/Rock music) as the masthead is normally goes across on the top third taking up the whole width where the "Q" is placed to the left side in a red box behind it.

Content pages: My contents page represent the social I am stereotypically representing because the background picture is a picture from a festival with people dancing. This is stereotypical to this social group because the costumes are casual and plus is shows that this group of people that I am representing goes to a lot of music festivals and gigs Because they enjoy live music. The fonts I have used for the contents page I have used basic font for the header so it would stand out. I used a the same font from my masthead from my front cover and positioned it sideways on my contents page to give the contents page the same feeling as the front cover did the social group I am representing. This represents the social group I am trying to represent because the fonts are not over done, it is very causal like the social group I am aiming this for (mainly females age between 16-25). This is because the ages they are the genre of music I am stereotypically trying to represent is that the font isn’t supposed to be big, bold and over powering because the main aim in this is the article title so the font is a lot darker. The article titles represent the social group I want stereotypically because it talks a lot about live music such as gigs and festival and also it includes the social group in the articles such having their own say. This gives a stereotypical view that this social group is very into going to live music events having their own voice about music. The costumes/props that the artists/model wore and have in the other 2 photos represents a stereotypical representation on the social group that would wear this. It shows that everyone that is into this magazine and music wear what is fashionable today such as converse and a green parker as that are still young and like to look fashionable but they are into listening to music through headphones when they are out and about in their phones The header for this contents page is bright and vibrant this is a good representation of the social group that is for indie people that like to stand out a lot with their music genre because they like to be original and the header represents like because of the boldness of the colour of the header background compared to the rest of the page. The costumes from the photographs that are used on the contents give a very stereotypical representation of the social group that is suppose to be shown is very different to what you might see on a pop magazine or even some clothing shops that a lot people may shop at. This is stereotypical view that this social group have a different sense of style and that like dress very individual not what everyone else wears which can be seen as rebellious in some ways or can be seen as very creative and original. The pose of the photographs are seen as “cool” as they are not really posing and they have a very serious face which suggests they are very serious about their music which can relate to the social group that is represented which can be that they feel very strong about their music and are very serious when it comes to music. This contents page also ha a flannel on the right with information about Green Day. This shows us a clear indication on the genre of music which is rock/indie. This gives a stereotypical view on what the social group that is being represented listen to which is music such as Green Day.

DPS: The header is very simple but effective. This gives a representation of the social group for my magazine because it shows what sort of music they are into and what kind of genre they are into which is finding out about new music. The photograph is represented very innocently, girly and would think that this artist play acoustic guitars and sings songs with meaning like country music. This gives a stereotypical representation of the social group that would read this to be into this kind of music, seen a innocent and polite. Dresses casual but would wear a lot of floral and the location also represents the style of this particular social group. The information that us in the article gives a representation of what social group I have used stereotypically are into reading about what new things are going to happen with a artist, lot about touring and how they started out in music. I have put a flannel in the right side of the dps to give quick information about the artist. This gives a stereotypical representation on what the social groups are like so they might similar to that artist or that they see music artists their age as role models and inspirations. The photograph gives a very stereotypical representation of the social group that reads this magazine. It suggests that this social group are into concerts that are rock. They like eventful concerts that are very dramatic and have their musicians play instruments. The social group could be seen as stereotypically rebellious and like to play instruments themselves The information that is included in this article shows what the particular social group are into when it comes to information in articles. It shows that they are into what happens backstage and what its like to do things such as concert films because a lot of people that read this are the ones who want to be in this sort profession themselves. The colours that are used are very vibrant but also dark. This gives a stereotypical representation of the particular social group that the magazine is trying to focus on which is that they aren’t into the colours you would see in pop but the colours can be seen as very manly. The costumes in this are very casual which suggests they don’t care what they wear or approach because it’s the music that matters most which can reflect on the representation o f the particular social group which they can be seen as the same as they care more about music than fashion.
