Children with autism often have a difficult time interacting with other people Social skills is a main problem children with autism struggle with Lack of social skills is a major disadvantage for children with autism The ability to interact well with others is a great aspect of a persons life
Children with autism are usually bright but lack social skills to accommodate that Teachers often the child is too bright to be acting a certain way Autistic children usually don’t understand social rules They may be able to understand extremely difficult math problems better than social rules
Parents of children with autism usually describe their child as being in their own little secret world Children with autism tend to play alone rather than playing with groups of friends Some children with autism are even bothered by the presence of others (rather it be the noise or the fact that others may do things different from them making them unpredictable.
Children with autism are usually bright for the most part They usually excel in math and other subjects that may be difficult for others Children with autism usually do very well in school.
Children with autism emotional development can be either really good or really bad Social and emotional development go hand and hand therefore something the emotional development is lacking because of social skills On the other hand some children may not be doing well socially but are fine emotionally
Children with autism usually don’t suffer from poor physical development their fine motor skills and gross motor skills typically develop as a child without autism would
Early Intervention is the best hope for a children with any disability Intervention will provide instruction for the child that will build on their strengths allowing them to learn new skills It will strengthen areas of weakness and improve ill behaviors
Intervention will provide understanding for the parents of their child behaviors and give them tools for them to meet their needs It will offer support, training and resources that will help you work more effectively with your child It will foster positive development and will improve the outcome of your child.
Any child under the age of three that has a developmental delay is eligible for intervention services The child will receive an individual family service plan IFSP This plan is made uniquely for the child and their family The family will also get support and training to work effectively with their child
When working with children that have autism it’s important to create a daily routine they greatly benefit children with autism It’s also important to give fewer choices when working with children with autism During transitions use commands of executions to cue transitions and preparatory commands Treat them like you would treat a child without autism
