ORIGINS • 1986: Protestation >< opening of McDonald’s restaurant  creation of the Slow Food organization  development of Slow Cities, Slow living, Slow Travel, and Slow Design.

ORIGINS • 1999 : Orvieto (Italy) – 1st meeting of Slow Cities movement with Paolo Saturnini • 5/2001: Hersbruck – 1st Slow City in Germany

ORIGINS • 2004: Aylsham (England) – 2nd slow city • Cowichan Bay: 1st Slow City in North America

ORIGINS Results  expanded to >100 000 members in 132 countries.  adopted a set of common goals and principles to enhance their quality of life for residents and visitors.
