Solution: After conducting a thorough analysis of the brand, I created a brand strategy that led to the dynamic creative concept, The Vault Video Game Challenge. Students play on a “team” with fictional characters to complete money-related activities to unlock levels of the Fifth Third Vault. Challenge: Fifth Third Bank wanted to update its signature financial literacy program for students, Young Bankers Club, by incorporating greater flexibility that would enable them to extend the reach of the program throughout each of its 12 states of operation. The program was also in need of a fresh new look and feel that would resonate with fifth-grade students. Results: Working closely with the bank’s team to navigate its internal processes and regulatory compliance, the final result was an exciting comprehensive curriculum that meets national and state educational standards for fifth-grade mathematics. Elements of the Young Bankers Club brand strategy included: • Creating engaging content utilizing The Vault Video Game Challenge storyline to weave each unit of the student workbook together as well as developed content for the instructor guide • Overseeing the creative direction of a visually and emotionally stimulating graphic design as well as managing the printing of both books • Developing and designing program training materials and an online toolkit • Conducting training sessions with Fifth Third Bank employees to roll out the revamped program I also developed a 24-month strategic plan for the brand and continue to work with Fifth Third Bank to roll out additional components of the program. Fifth Third Bank has over 1,300 full-service locations across 12 different states
Solution: I developed dynamic and engaging program content for the Empowerment Stage which included celebrity-filled workshops and seminars as well as live entertainment over a three-day period. Challenge: The National Urban League wanted to increase attendance and participation at the expo hall Empowerment Stage during its four-day annual conference. Results: Merging celebrities and live entertainment with relevant subject matter, I was able to create an Empowerment Stage that was entertaining, interactive and informative by: • Creating and producing five workshops with topics ranging from health to relationships to careers featuring renowned speakers and celebrities including actor Giancarlo Esposito, actor Derek Luke, fitness expert Donna Richardson, actress Malinda Williams and many more. • Scheduling stimulating live music and entertainment which included a performance from cast members of Motown: The Musical and a line dancing demonstration. • Creating a Celebrity Hot Spot & Social Media Lounge for attendees to snap and share photos with celebrities, speakers, and entertainers. Attendance at the Empowerment Stage doubled as result of these efforts. The National Urban League is a non-profit organization with affiliates across the country serving 2.8 million people annually. • Implementing contests for prize giveaways (iPads, gift cards) to generate excitement.
Solution: To generate new energy and excitement, I changed the name of the event from Women Cookin’ For The Arts to Savor the Flavor. Challenge: Suffering from a decrease in attendance, participation and revenue, Sankofa Fine Arts Plus wanted to reinvigorate its food tasting fundraiser. Results: The fundraiser was a huge success and showed an impressive 100% increase in revenue and a 10% decrease in expenses. I accomplished this by: • Designing event collateral materials including logo, flyer, sponsorship packages, and a cookbook. • Increasing participation by allowing men to compete as chefs. • Creating branded merchandise and securing premium auction items to be sold to generate additional revenue. • Utilizing traditional media outlets as well social media to increase awareness and ticket sales. • Utilizing online ticketing service for ticket sales and chef registration. • Managing all event logistics including budget, venue, volunteers, and sponsorship fulfillment. Sankofa Fine Art Plus advocates for ethnic artists and presents ethnic art as a credible and meaningful art form through community education and collaboration.
