Who are Special Children? “Persons with disabilities include those who have long-term physical, mental, intellectual or sensory impairments which in interaction with various barriers may hinder their full and effective participation in society on an equal basis with others.” Convention of the Rights of people with disabilities adopted in the year 2006
Scenario in India 3 percent of India’s children are estimated to be mentally challenged 15 million children >10 years 10 million are boys and 5 million are girls. 20 of every 1000 children in rural India are disabled as compared to 16 of 1000 urban children. Only 2% of disabled children enjoy the privilege of going to school. Child Relief and You (CRY)

Conclusion Monitoring at an early stage Agronomy = Development More focus on proper awareness Implementing the policies framed. Integrated and Inclusive model of education needs to be applied. Involvement of society – De-labeling
