On January 8th, the Salesforce Success Community reached one million members. To celebrate, this infographic takes us through the history and journey of the Success Community all the way to our one millionth member.

January 2014 marks an exciting milestone for the Success Community. We now have one million incredible members. It’s been an amazing journey to get to this point. Take a look at how far the community has come and get excited for the many great years ahead.

2005 Dubbed “CRM Success,” the community is a one page site with just 500 visitors and the user group program is born. Trending topics in the community: training your team and customizing the app. CRM SUCCESS 2006 The community is relaunched on Typepad and rebranded as “Successforce.” Becomes the go-to place for feature information about each new release. Trending topics in the community: lead managment, common CRM mistakes, reporting, and analytics.

2008 2007 IdeaExchange is introduced where customers can suggest features requests and the community votes to bubble up the best ones. 2007 Lithium discussion forums and role-based best practices get their start. Power users begin to emerge from the forum and growing user group program. Trending topics in the community: Adoption dashboard, motivating sales teams, and data management. First Dreamforce where community has its own keynote. 450 people attend. 8 additional sessions are run 100% by community members.

2012 2010 Community moves onto Sites, making it fully part of the Salesforce Platform for the first time. A simplified user experience leads to exponential growth in engagement. Trending topics in the community: outlook, dashboards, and formulas. Customer Community Community keynote at Dreamforce grows to 1,500 attendees and members lead over 25 sessions. 2010 Launch of the Salesforce MVP Program recognizing exceptional individuals within the Salesforce community for their leadership, knowledge, and ongoing contributions.

2013 Officially launched on Salesforce Communities. First 6 months see 600+ new Chatter groups, 70% growth in new membership, and 300% increase in employee engagement. 2013 2014 Community welcomes its 1 millionth member on January 8th. Dreamforce features 50+ sessions led by members. An entire zone is dedicated to Community.
