RUSSIAN REVOLUTION: A SPARK OF CHANGE Sarah Haag Paris Colbert Gabrielle Rivera

 Russia had the fastest growth rate of all of the Great Powers of Europe.  Industrial workers, worked 12 to 14 hours a day for low pay, in unhealthy, and unsafe conditions.  The workers had no avenue to seek change. MOVING TOWARDS REVOLUTION

RISE OF POLITICAL PARTIES   Reform movements evolve into formal, organized political parties. Russian Social Democratic Workers’ Party, or Social Democrats was founded in 1898. 1905: Constitutional Democratic Party is founded  The Socialist Revolutionary Party was founded in 1901.

MENSHEVIKS   Russian word meaning “majority” Led by Lenin BOLSHEVIKS   Russian word meaning “minority” Several other groups formed this party THE PARTY SPLIT IN 1903

 The political and economic theories of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, later developed by their followers to form the basis for the theory and practice of communism.  Method of societal analysis based on attention to classrelations and societal conflict.  Lenin did not agree with theses views. MARXISM

 Lenin believed pure Marxism didn’t apply to Russia.  Marxism interrupted and applied by Lenin.  Shaped the Bolshevik party LENINISM
