What have we found out so far? It takes a long time to get a profile to look how you want it to! You always want a program to do something it won’t do (yet). Training for students is essential, as is close contact for support (blog). The e-solution will not necessarily save time in the short term. It does work and students surprise us with their innovation. In the future more interaction between students on placement.

eRoPD The student experience

Positive findings. A wide variety of ways of presenting evidence. Ability to use mobile devices e.g. mobile phones, voice recorders, iPods. Feedback from mentor – suitability of evidence. No evidence folder to carry around. Some evidence is easier in electronic form. A different way to provide evidence at interview and a demonstration of ICT competence.

Areas for future improvement. Traffic light system a bit confusing i.e. turned green with any piece of evidence (appropriate or not). Mentor having to take written notes on observations and transfer to computer (scan in better?). Problem due to mobile phone breaking.
