Slide1:  Robert Carley Selected Exhibitions Slide2:  And She Sang Loudly Downtown Arts Centre Hamilton, Ontario ~ 2006 Slide3:  And she sang loudly. So loudly that she couldn’t hear herself and didn’t know where she was. Slide4:  I realise that I am part of all things and that all things are part of me and that my soul belongs to the Universe and I am a child of God and the lover of young men and rosy lipped angels. Slide5:  I like to stand in water up to my ankles and feel its soft splashing and its gentle caress. Slide6:  I was never afraid to say how much I admired you, and that you could be part of my soul and spirit forever. Slide7:  My hands are gentle, soft and sensitive, yet strong. My lips are red and wet. My tongue is clean and pink. My eyes are warm, clear and powerful. Slide8:  My hair is on fire and blows freely in the wind. My breath is sweet, my teeth are white and new looking. Slide9:  I wait patiently for my young lover to take my hand and sweep me off into the night. There I would be devoured and cleansed and my pure body and mind would go out into the universe with joy at its centre and laughter by its side. And I would be set free. And maybe someone someday will hear my loud song and rejoice with me. – Robert Carley Slide12:  Jean and Ross Fischer Gallery Art Gallery of Hamilton, Ontario ~ 2007 AGH Slide13:  AGH Slide14:  AGH Slide15:  AGH Slide16:  AGH / Jean and Ross Fischer Gallery Slide17:  AGH Slide18:  AGH Slide19:  AGH Slide20:  AGH Slide21:  AGH Slide22:  Robert Carley Sunrise Gallery, 2007 Slide24:  Robert Carley Burlington Art Centre ~ 2008 Slide26:  the ART Bus Tour Robert Carley Art Studio Hamilton, Ontario ~ 2007 Slide27:  the ART Bus Tour Slide28:  the ART Bus Tour Slide29:  the ART Bus Tour Slide30:  the ART Bus Tour Slide31:  the ART Bus Tour Slide32:  the ART Bus Tour Slide33:  the ART Bus Tour Slide34:  the ART Bus Tour Slide35:  the ART Bus Tour Slide36:  the ART Bus Tour Robert Carley Art Studio Slide37:  the ART Bus Tour Slide38:  the ART Bus Tour Slide39:  Robert Carley Selected Works Slide73:  Robert Carley Sparrows Watching Over Mother Earth Slide74:  Sparrow Watching Over Mother Earth A Series I will send my little sparrow friend. She will perch upon your bowstring and sing her sweet love songs for you To help you through the long and lonely night. She will sing, Think of me in your dreams and be strong. Know that I am young and powerful. The strength is in my song and the truth is in my heart. I feel you in the universe as I feel rocks and trees. And I know it’s good. Robert Carley Slide75:  Reach Out I would like to reach out and hold your sweet face in my hands and tell you how much I loved you. And then, I would know that I had found truth, if only for a moment. With arms outstretched across the universe. Slipping into distant dreams. Robert Carley Slide79:  Robert Carley The Arts & Entertainment, The Toronto Star: “Self taught artist Robert Carley has no limitations.” Echo Germanica, art critic, Alexander Oolo, writes: “ Carley’s art is a desirable companion for the next millennium.” The Hamilton Spectator, art critic, Regina Haggo writes: “Driven to Abstraction, rather than follow a path that he has trod or mapped out, he seeks a spontaneous approach, one directed by the very act of painting.” In June 2004 at a prestigious Yorkville gallery, Robert Carley was featured with renowned Canadian artist’s Harold Towne, William Ronald, Michael Forester, Peirre Patry and Karo Alexanian in an Abstract Group Exhibition. Slide80:  ARTIST STATEMENT I approach the canvas without any preconceived ideas. I simply want to start the painting and see were it goes. I work together with the canvas, trying not to let my ego control the exercise. I have found that keeping a simple palette helps me to stay focused. It has been an interesting learning process, one that has given me a fresher understanding of my art work. Robert Carley Slide81:  BIOGRAPHY Robert Carley was born in Regina, Saskatchewan (Canada) in 1940. In 1943 the family moved to Vancouver, British Columbia. In Robert’s early teens he immersed himself in music and voice training. In 1960 Robert auditioned for The Royal Conservatory of Music and The Faculty of Music Opera School in Toronto, Ontario (Canada). He was awarded a scholarship and graduated in 1965. For the next two decades Robert performed with the Canadian Opera Company, Stratford on Avon, C.B.C. television, C.B.C radio, E.T.V. television, C.F.T.O. television, numerous television commercials and industrial shows. His talent has covered all venues of theatre, television, film and radio as a singer/actor before devoting himself entirely to painting. His paintings are works of an artist working at the height of his creativity. Carley approaches his work boldly and aggressively with a bright palette and a liberal use of paint, trying not to control the work as it progresses but to be part of its creation. His work speaks for itself, electrifying and unforgettable. Slide82:  COLLECTIONS Lewis Odette Toronto, Ontario Lady Greene London, England Mr. & Mrs. Harvey Tenenbaum Toronto, Ontario Mr. & Mrs. H.
