Roald Dahl :  Roald Dahl By Sarah Kirkland Biography:  Biography - Roald Dahl was born in Llandaff, Wales of Norwegian parents. - As a young boy, Dahl attended a private school in Wales and England. Biography:  Biography -The mean masters and older classmates Roald had inspired him to write children stories about kids who fight off cruel adults and/or authorities. After World War II where Dahl was a fighter pilot, he moved to America where he soon began writing stories. Dahl’s Literature:  Dahl’s Literature “The Gremlins” was Dahl’s first children’s book which was published with Walt Disney in 1943. - His first book of short stories emerged in the United States in 1945. Dahl’s Literature:  Dahl’s Literature James and the Giant Peach (published in 1961, animated film in 1996). -Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (published in 1964, film in 1971). -These two books presented the central theme that Dahl had in his children books: virtue is rewarded, vice is punished. Dahl’s Awards:  Dahl’s Awards Dahl received three Edgar Allen Poe Awards which were in 1954, 1959 and 1980. Dahl won his first literary prize with The BFG in 1982.
