Bauer Media Group is a multinational media company headquarter in Hamburg. It’s a division of the Bauer media group, Europe’s largest privately owned publishing group. Bauer Media reaches over nineteen million UK adults every week. They have more than eighty influential media brands. The company was founded in 1875, it has been privately owned under the management of the Bauer media family. The group is a worldwide media empire offering over 300 magazines in 15 countries. They also offer media, though TV, online and radio stations. These are some of the best, most popular demanding music magazines in the UK.

As Bauer media group distribute their selling magazines online, this could have a massive advantage for me. My magazine is target at more of a younger target audience, the younger generation is one of the biggest groups of people to use the internet. Distributing my magazine online would mean that my target group would be able to subscribe monthly and be up to date with the most recent news and upcoming features. It could also mean receiving updates on social networking sites, like Facebook or Twitter, which a large percentage of my target audience already uses on a day to day basis. Another reason I would pick Bauer media to distribute Rhythmix, my Hip hop magazine is because they have such a successful turnover, which reaches over 2 billion Euros. This would be a advantage to me because it shows overall how successful they are well established and how people are aware on their company. Presently Bauer media are not distributing a pure based Hip hop magazine. This implies that there is a gap in the market for my magazine and has a chance of success as it brings something new and fresh to the market, which consumers are always appealed by. As well as being an advantage to me it could also increase Bauer Media’s revenue.

This is Bauer media’s NRS figures. What this shows is the different readerships that they have. I analysed the readership for the magazine’s and looked at the one I thought most related to my Rhythmix magazine. This is Kerrang. Kerrang’s total readership is 345000. It’s half made up from the 54.7% of males that read it and the other half is made up from the 45.3% percentage of females that read it. From the results show in the table it is visible that Kerrang appeals to more males than women and is also aimed at them more. However the percentage of women who buy the magazine is still quite a large amount. I want this to apply to my Hip hop magazine Rhythmix. Being appealed to slightly more men than women but overall still quite an equal amount of both genders.
