Learning Networks and Professional Development 02.09.09
Networks are people, not things.
In a learning network, individuals will: Work toward answering common questions. Create content and share-alike. Leverage the best learning and tools available.
There is no single network. Trying to make it so will kill the network.
In a learning network, individuals will: Create their own learning. Make connections that are relevant. Engage in a community wherever they find it.
Learning is always networked. Connections are valuable.
In a learning network, individuals will: Link to voices of value. Embed work that is important. Remix learning objects at will.
The tool is not the network.
In a learning network, individuals will: Shift tools if they no longer suit the needs of the network. Tag their content to aggregate it. Make content come to them with feeds.
Networks huddle around learning.
In a learning network, individuals will: Test ideas and make sure that they are viable. Debate both process and products. Start conversations, always.
Networks are open. Web sites are closed.
In a learning network, individuals will: Use API’s Use web applications and web mail as feeds Use mobile devices
Wiki and blog are not four letter words.
In a learning network, individuals will: Collaborate as an instinct. Have conversations around every learning event. Archive all learning.
