POP MAGAZINE • In the next slide I am going to analyse a pop magazine and annotate all the different conventions of the magazine.

CONTENTS PAGE Page numbers- Every magazines contents page has to have numbers to indicate readers what topic is on what page to make it easier for them to get to the page they want easy and fast. Colloquial language- This is found on most pop magazines to suite the target audience. It would usually suite a younger audience. Sub-Headings- A contents page should usually contain sub-headings next to the page numbers. This is to give a clear idea of what is inside and makes it easy to navigate.

POP MAGAZINE CONVENTIONS This is the masthead of the magazine. This should always stand out and draw the attention of the readers. Its usually a bright colour to attract the readers eyes. The Masthead should always have a link to the overall magazine in this case a relation to pop music. The main image is usually a famous singer or band who are well known at the time and in this case Jessie J was the famous pop musician at the time. It needs to be popular musician as this is what will draw the readers to buy the magazine. The artist or band must attract a certain target audience The Cover lines should have some sort of link to the features of the artist on the front cover of the magazine. The artist or band must attract a certain target audience. The cover line for this magazine is “Jessie J tells her own story” this is in regard of Jessie J and her personal story which she shares to the public.

DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD • Bold fonts- Bold fonts are used to get the attention of the reader the bold fonts are mostly used for the main story of the double page spread. The biggest image on the double page spread is usually who the story is based around this may be a story about a particular celebrity in this case its Rhianna
