Most recipes deal with quantities; Numbers represent the quantities to use; Often the quantities are written in fraction form, or as mixed numbers; You have to know temperatures for the oven setting; You have to know times for the duration of the cooking. Pizza cutter How did we start?:  How did we start? We were making 2 pizzas, so we had to divide our ingredients. ½ went to the group making a ham and cheese pizza, and the other ½ went to the group cooking a ham and pineapple pizza. Step by step cooking …:  Step by step cooking … … still cooking!:  … still cooking! … and what next?:  … and what next? Sharing and Eating the Pizza:  Sharing and Eating the Pizza When we cut the pizza into pieces, we found many ways of explaining the fraction amounts on the tray and in our hands! Can you explain the fractions you see in the photos? Anything Else?:  Anything Else? We made classroom posters about fractions using the digital photos. We retold the procedure using fractional terms wherever possible. We made coloured-paper pizzas, and rediscovered the equivalent fraction amounts.
