OUR GUIDE TO SPECIAL PLACES IN CATALONIA GABRIEL FERRATER HIGH SCHOOL

SAGRADA FAMÍLIA IT’S A BASILICA PLACE LOCATED IN BARCELONA. ALTHOUGH IT’S INCOMPLETE, THE CATHEDRAL IS ONE OF THE MOST VISITED PLACES IN SPAIN. IT’S THE MOST FAMOUS EXAMPLE OF CATALAN’ MODERNISM AND IT WAS DESIGNED BY AN INCREDIBLE ARCHITECT, WHO WAS BORN IN REUS: ANTONI GAUDÍ.

OPINION IT’S A WONDERFUL BIG STONE BUILDING. I WAS THERE AND IS SO IMPRESSIVE! WHEN YOU ENTER IT IS LIKE A HIT OF COLORS AND INCREDIBLE FORMS. AND AS I SAID IN THE FIRST SLIDE, ALTHOUGH IT’S INCOMPLETE FOR ME IS, PROBABLY THE MOST INCREDIBLE CHURCH THAT I’VE SEEN. AND FOR ALL THESE REASONS IT COULD BE A SUITABLE PLACE FOR SIGHTSEEING IN ONE OF THE BEST CITIES IN THE WORLD BARCELONA.

LA FAGEDA D’EN JORDA By Mireia Salagaray • La fageda d’en Jordà is a big natural park where you can walk and see an amazing landscape full of beeches • It is near Girona. • If you go there in autumm you can see one of the most awesome landscapes inCatalonia • It has a stream which crosses the beech forest. • You can hire a horse cart and have a walk through the beech forest.

Some pictures

• I think everybody who visits Catalonia has to go there because I went with my family and I spent a great day there. I could have a fantastic walk and took lots of amazing photos. • I felt very small under those huge trees and I felt safe and comfortable when I was there, it was a great sensation.

• Teatre Fortuny is the main theater in Reus. • It was built in 1882. • Its name is a tribute to Marià Fortuny i Marsal, a catalan painter born in Reus.

• Since I was four I have danced in its stage. • It’s where I feel better because I perform for my people. • I love how it makes the public applause sound. • And I think that It’s wonderful. This is my favorite place because…

That’s me now. Me when I was little.

Niu de l’àliga Marc Torres Amorós

Niu de l’aliga • Niu de l’àliga is a beautiful place in Alcover (13 km from Reus). • It’s on the top of a mountain and it has a huge waterfall.

Activities to do • There, you can go for a walk from the village to the Niu de l’Àliga, and when you arrive, swim in the lake. • It’s very refreshing after the walk...

Why have I chosen this place? • I’ve chosen this place because I think that it’s very beautiful and you can feel very relaxed and calmed.

Juan Francisco Varela

• • • • Alcover is a small village. It is a beautiful place. It is near the Francoli river. It’s surrounded by unspoiled nature

Aquopolis It’s a water park that’s situated facing the sea in Costa Daurada (Salou). It has a lot of fantastic original toboggans and great, huge swimming pools. There, you can also find some shows with dolphins and seals and you

I have chosen it because it’s a perfect place to spend a good time with your family or friends and it’s summer is very refreshing.

REUS MEDITERRANI (CAMBRILS) It’s a summer resort At the beachfront There are two parts: Facing the sea Inland area.

I know this place very well because my grandmother has a house and I have spent many summers there. By ARIANA

A BEAUTIFUL PLACE... By GEMMA

SETCASES This little village is a beautiful place in Catalonia. It is about 150 km away from my town, Reus, but it's a natural place and I love it, so the journey is worth it. This village is in the mountains. On a valley. Also, there are, some places where we can ski nearby. So we can have a good time there.

This village is like all the ancient villages. All the people know each other and they are very friendly to tourists. In Catalonia it is "famous" for its cookies and the cold meat sausage you can see in the picture.

WHY DO I WANT TO SHOW YOU THIS PLACE? I love this place because everytime I’ve been there I’ve had a really good time. I’ve enjoyed myself a lot so I want other people to do the same now. All the tourists visit only the famous places in Catalonia but there are a lot of beautiful places which no tourists know and are quite beautiful.

Cambrils Cambrils is a beautiful and quiet town by the sea

• I’ve chosen Cambrils because it’s where I was born and it reminds me of my childhood. • I like it because it’s a quiet town where you can relax and have a great time.

PORTAVENTURA It is a theme park and a resort in the south of Barcelona, in Salou, Tarragona, Spain; on the Costa Daurada. It attracts around 4 million visitors per year making it the most visited theme park in Spain. PortAventura Park is also the 6th most visited theme park in Europe. The resort also includes Costa Caribe Aquatic Park and four hotels. It has two airports within 30 minutes of it, including Reus Airport. There is a train station at PortAventura which has connections to Barcelona and Salou.

COME TO PORTAVENTURA • I HAVE CHOSEN PORTAVENTURA BECAUSE I THINK THAT IS THE ONE OF THE BEST PLACES OF FUN HERE IN CATALONIA. I THINK THAT IS A GOOD PLACE TO VISIT. IT IS IN SALOU, ONE OF THE BEST BEACHES IN EUROPE, AND IS NEAR BARCELONA. ITS HOTELS ARE GOOD AND VERY CONVENIENT BECAUSE THEY ARE INSIDE THE PARK.

MONTSANT By MIREIA R.

Serra de Montsant is a mountain range in Catalonia, Spain. It is part of the Catalan PreCoastal Range. The main peaks are Roca Corbatera (1,163 m), Piló dels Senyalets (1,109 m) and la Cogulla (1,063 m). The Montsant mountain range is presently a Natural Park. This mountain region gives its name to the Montsant wine-producing area.

I have chosen this because when I was a child I used to walk these mountains and climb all the peaks.

MONTSEC By BERNAT

Montsec is a beautiful mountain in the middle of Catalonia. It has an astronomy observatory with one of the biggest telescopes in Spain.

It is a perfect place for hangliding

But you can go hiking too. A very special excursion is “Congost de Montrebei”, when you walk between the mountain and a river.

It’s really worth it!

THE MUSSARA The Mussara is a small village located in the Prades Mountains that has been uninhabited since the eighties. This little town gave the chains the name of Mussara Mountains which are the first peaks of Sierra Littoral, near the coast.

This road offers you real nature: from rabbits, squirrels, owls to deer and wild boars. The hilly roadway makes a lot of laps around the base of the Mussara, and sometimes, you have the impression you are going to fall in one of the rocky precipices there are, but fortunately, it is not so.

Since I was months old, every summer I have passed many times by Mussara to arrive my little village called “The Febró”. If the fog is not very thick you can appreciate the most beautiful world’s view: mountains and in the end the sea. Imagine the Mussara’s view! By MAR

Description. Nuria’s valley is a lovely place located in the north of Catalonia near France, where you can practise a lot of wild activities such as skiing in winter, hiking, hiring a boat and navigating the lake which is in front of the hotel, which is a beautiful building in harmony with the mountains that surround it. To go there, you must take the train as the valley is hidden in the mountains so it’s not easy enough to arrive in another way.

Why have I choosen this place? I’ve chosen this place because it means a lot to me. I went there when I was 6 years old and I had a perfect journey with my dad mum and sister, and I’d like to go back again some day. It’s a nice place and great to disconnect from the daily routine and to enjoy a weekend in nature with people you love.

The Ebre Delta It is the delta region of the Ebre river, made with a lot of sediments from the river. It’s a perfect natural scenery for a lot of birds, who feed and nest there.

• I chose the Ebre Delta because I went there a few months ago, and I enjoyed it so much. It’s a great place to contemplate nature. By LLUCH

VALL D’ARAN Bego Vizcaíno Gispert 1st BAT B

WHERE AND WHAT? The place I want to show to you is the “Vall d’Aran”. A big Valley situated in the north-west of our country, Catalonia. It’s full of little charming villages, beautiful landscapes and high mountains to climb or to ski. It offers a lot of activities to do in summer (routes to do running, walking or cycling, towns to visit, extreme sports like rafting…) and also in winter, with one of the biggest ski resorts in Spain: “Baquèira Beret”.

WHY? I’ve chosen this place to show because I’ve been going here since I was a baby and I have very beautiful memories. I’ve always loved skiing and the mountains in general and going there makes me feel happy, as if everything was right for a while. I hope you love it too.

CAP SALOU Cap Salou is a natural cape full of pine trees and fine, sandy beaches and coves. Ideal for families and tourists looking for relax and a bit of night life.

By Pau I’ve chosen Cap Salou because many tourists attracted by Salou never get to this beautiful place. It is between Port Aventura theme park and the sea and you shouldn’t miss clear its clear water and refreshing pine tree smell.
