OSS Scenario - Mobile (Type: DOC, Total Page: 30) In a typical wireless project creating a subscriber with a set of features is a common service and one of the complex ones. In some implementation projects, the upstream system has a good understanding of the technology and provides all the features that are need to be activation whereas in other projects upstream systems will require to activate individual features. Most projects create a subscriber with features and a service like voicemail. Value added services like multimedia messaging, push to talk, etc are provisioned based on the marketing bundle. In a prepaid scenario, changing the subscriber’s SIM is a common use case. This would involve recreating the features that a subscriber had originally with the new SIM. Network operators have a wide variety of network elements. Activation cartridges will require interfacing with the network element using the appropriate protocol. Activation will be required to submit switch commands in the right sequence in order to achieve the end state of successful provisioning. Most operators will require redundancy of systems in order to provide high availability. Activation product provides out of the box high availability configuration. Activation product may be deployed in clusters. Integrating with upstream systems is a big challenge. Some operators have their own upstream system and so Activation needs to accept orders in format that the upstream system submits the provisioning requests in. In such cases, SRT is used for translating the order from upstream xml format to OSS/J. If the upstream systems can provide the order in OSS/J format then it is not required to have an SRT.
