What is OH&S? Occupational safety and health is a cross-disciplinary area concerned with protecting the safety, health and welfare of people engaged in work or in employment.

Duty of Care Duty of care outlines the basic responsibilities of employers. These include: Provision and maintenance of safe plant and work systems. Provision of a safe working environment and monitoring of safety conditions in the workplace. Ensuring that employees are given adequate information and instructions for maintaining work safety.

Breaching OH&S Laws Awareness of the importance of OH&S has improved in recent years. Penalties for breaches of OH&S laws now include fines of up to $1,650,000 or na ming and shaming in the press for corporations and fines and/or imprisonment for individuals. Can also cause death and serious injury to employees and/or third parties.
