Cosmelan® Depigmentation Treatment:  Cosmelan® Depigmentation Treatment Slide2:  Metabolism of the Melanocyte THE PRODUCTION OF MELANIN Melanocytes Melanocytes – Form melanin in sub-cellular organelles Melanosomes - Act as specialized “carriers” for melanin production in the skin. Keratinocytes - Cells located in the basal layer of the epidermis Langerhans - Cells responsible for immune response. - Keratinocytes and Langerhans co-exist together Metabolism of the Melanocyte THE PRODUCTION OF MELANIN :  Metabolism of the Melanocyte THE PRODUCTION OF MELANIN Kinetics of the Cell: The Keratinocytes - exhibit an active process of keratinization, melanosomes deposit melanin in the keratinocytes transferring them upward to the corneocytes of the stratum corneum. The Corneocytes - along with ceramides and other lipids form the horny layer or stratum corneum and act as a protective mechanism of the skin. Function of Melanin:  Function of Melanin Absorb UV radiation and protect. Assist in neutralizing free radicals. Inhibit the oxidation of lipids in the cell membranes. Protect from photo-aging. Protect DNA from actinic damage. High chemical stability. Melanogenesis :  TYROSINASE (enzyme) TYROSINE (amino acid) TYROSINASE (enzyme) OXIDATION DOPA (amino acid) OXIDATION DOPAQUINONE (enzyme) PHEOMELANIN (red or yellow) EUMELANIN (brown or black) Melanogenesis Fitzpatrick Scale :  Fitzpatrick Scale Slide7:  Epidermal Pigment - Hyperpigmentation is easily visible by Wood’s light. Evaluating Hyperpigmentation Slide8:  Dermal/Epidermal Pigment or Mixed Pigment – Some pigmentation is more noticeable than others under Wood’s light. Evaluating Hyperpigmentation Slide9:  Hydroquinone 4% Azelaic Acid 20% Tretinoine .05 - .1% Kojic acid .05 - 4% Bearberry extract (5%) Gayuba plant (Uva ursa) Arbutin or Busserola plant AHA Ascorbic acid Phytic acid 1-2% Glutathione Common Depigmentation Treatments Slide10:  Topical use of Depigmentation Treatments: Eliminate the build-up of melanin Lightening the skin Rejuvenating the skin Inhibit Tyrosinase Mechanisms of depigmentation treatments: Inhibit the enzymatic action of melanogenesis and help to eliminate melanin deposits Trigger a reversible inhibition of the activity of tyrosinase and other enzymes, particularly eumelanin producing enzymes such as DOPA-tautomerase Melanocytes do not disappear, but are merely paralyzed or detain the production of melanin Benefits of Topical Depigmentation Treatments Slide11:  …the ultimate solution Cosmelan® Depigmentation Treatment Slide12:  Very efficient in all types of Melasma, Chloasma, UV damage & PIH Prevention of PIH post peels and laser treatments Non-invasive depigmentation action Compatible with all skin types (I - IV) Light peeling effect Rejuvenation and luminosity of the skin Treatment can start and be used all year round, not photo-synthesizing Does not contain TCA Very safe Why Cosmelan® Slide13:  Degreasing Solution (pH 3.5) Cosmelan® 1 - Cream 10g (pH 4.84) Cosmelan® 2 - Cream 30g (pH 5.83) Hydra Vital Factor K 50ml Cosmelan® Pack Slide14:  Cosmelan 1 Mask and Cosmelan 2 Maintenance Cream are comprised of the same ingredients. Cosmelan 1 Mask has a higher percentages of active ingredients. More than 50% of the composition is active in the Cosmelan 1 Mask. The high concentration of ingedients allows for penetration through the stratum corneum, inhibiting the action of the melanosomes. Cosmelan® Depigmentation Treatment Slide15:  Kojic Acid Azelaic Acid Arbutin Phytic Acid Licorice Extract Salicylic Acid Retinol Palmitate Ascorbic Acid Tocopherol Bisabolol Allantoin Nicotinamide Aloe Barbadensis Titanium Dioxide Active Ingredients Slide16:  Reversible Tyrosinase Inhibitors: Elevates tyrosinase inhibition. Ingredients of both plant and chemical origin, formulated to achieve maximum inhibition strength and are well tolerated and safe. Dopaquinone and Eumelanin Inhibitors: Ingredients of chemical origin acting as enzymatic inhibitors in the more advanced phases of melanogenesis. Diverting dark pigment to light Complementary Melanogenesis Inhibitors: Inhibits the transfer of melanosomes to keratinocytes and cancels out any ultraviolet radiation stimulation. Vitamin Complex: Antioxidant properties, free radical neutralizers which stimulate fibroblast collagen-producing activities and cellular renovation and have a revitalizing effect on the skin. Plant Extract Complex: These are substances of plant origin exhibiting a brightening, hydrating and anti-inflammatory effect on the skin.. Filtering Complex: This is a mixture of organic and inorganic filters producing no free radicals and absorbing UVA and UVB radiation. Exfoliating Agent: Exfoliating agents that accelerate the stratum corneum desquamation or shedding process and therefore assists in melanin elimination. Actions of Active Ingredients Slide17:  KOJIC ACID PHYTIC ACID AZELAIC ACID ALPHA ARBUTIN LICORICE EXTRACT Tyrosinase Inhibitors Dopaquinone and Eumelanin Inhibitors Complementary Melanogenesis Inhibitors Plant Extract Complex Active Ingredients Slide18:  COSMELAN APPLICATION Cosmelan® Depigmentation Treatment Slide19:  Cosmelan® Mask Application Cleanse skin with mesoestetic® Milk or Gel Cleanser and follow with mesoestetic® Facial Tonic Apply the degreasing Solution with a cotton pad.
