Rise to notoriety Arrested at the age of fourteen for assault Ah Fook claimed that Ned stole 10 shillings Spent ten days in custody before dismissed Police called him “Juvenile Bushranger” after that Arrested the following year accused of being accomplice Arrested again for assaulting a hawker Three weeks later he was sent to jail with Alex Gunn for three years. Wild Wright went in jail for eighteen months only. Few weeks later Jim Kelly was given a five year sentence .

The Fitzpatrick incident Ned's mother now married again She married a Californian man called George King She had three children with him George, Ned & Dan was involved in a cattle rustling operation Alexander Fitzpatrick arrived at Benella suffering from wounds on his left wrist He claimed that Dan, Ned, Ellen and their friends Bricky Williamson and Bill Skillions. Willianson and Skillions were arrested. Ned and Dan were nowhere to be seen. Ellen was taken to custody with her baby Alice. Ned was possibly in N.S.W.
