1. Micro-learning at pre-language stage in grade one Lalit Kishore, CULP, Jaipur When a child enters grade on, first one week should be devoted to readiness activities before teaching alphabets. The pre-language activities should build the sight vocabulary of 15-20 words along with hand-eye coordination activities on paper. Daily 3 or 4 words can be reinforced daily through a variety of activities. Four types of activities can be used for initial vocabulary building as shown in the following matrix. The paper-sketch pen activities can be as follows. 4-6 line poem on an object of which the picture / visual can be made Use of three picture and word flash cards Picture reading Classification : names of objects and pictures of a class, e.g., fruits / animals/ birds Pre-language activities ~Dot-joining of pictures ~Colour filling ~Successive drawing Doodle art with pattern filling Pattern extending
