Blogging Steve Quanstrom Group Blog I planned and launched a new Wordpress based website for our real estate team. The big focus is on our blog, which has reached almost 60 blog posts from September 2013 to mid-February 2014. This blog has been maintained with a very deliberate approach. Our content mix has been dedicated to local real estate happenings, as well as tips for home buyers and sellers. The point is to be an amazing resource for our area that our clients and others can go get all those questions answered. I manage our social media presence and make sure to keep them active (Buffer is such a help!). This is one of a few areas that we make sure to track data. We use a custom short-link via bitly so that we can track clicks. The next goals are to begin incorporating more visual based content, like video in our blog posts.

Blogging Matt Q I just recently launched MattQ.com simply because I have had an itch to be writing more. I have really enjoyed the blogging and online marketing aspect of my real estate business, so I felt it would be fun to write about that. I am writing about what we are doing from that standpoint, as well as writing about the tools and methods I use to be productive. I am really excited about it because some of what I want to talk about may be surprising to some people (like how my BlackBerry contacts app is an instant social CRM tool). It is my goal to stay consistent in putting up content on my blog, regardless of what I am doing professionally. It is based on wordpress, so it is great to continue my experience there. Again, I am utilizing custom short URL’s on the social media side for click tracking. I also see my blog as a tool where I am able to experiment with different ideas to generate traffic. It is my guinea pig! While I do employ certain planning and strategy with this project, there is some “just write,” to it as well.

Thoughts On… Customer Experience I base my thoughts in Customer Experience and Service on the golden rule, “Treat others how you would like to be treated.” So simple. Yet it seems so many businesses forget this concept. This is crucial to the foundation of your business. If you can create a customer experience and service that would WOW you, that’s where you strike gold. If you aren’t blown away, how can you expect your customers/users to be? First, you need to be proactive. You need to anticipate the issues your customers/users may run into. Beyond that, you need to have those issues addressed. Show your base that you are actually thinking of them. This helps make a silly unnecessary issue turn into an impressed customer/user. Have empathy. Not only does everyone want to be heard, they want to be understood. They need to know you understand their situation, because that will make them feel that you are taking the proper steps to take care of them. The customer/user needs to matter, and they need to FEEL like they matter. Quickness. In your company, the entire experience needs to be quick and painless for the customer/user. We live in an “instant satisfaction,” world, and the world isn’t going to jump through hoops and hassles just to use your product/service.

Thoughts On… Online Content First, your online content (like a blog) needs to “answer” your customers’/users’ questions. Take the time to create “Buyer Personas,” that outline your target audience. This plays a huge role in keeping you focused on the content you generate. Think of what questions those personas would have, or better yet just pull from questions you already receive on a regular basis. In real estate for example, many home sellers will have questions on preparing their home for sale. Commonly, what improvements or projects will generate them an actual return on their dollar. If you are experienced, you will know this topic well. You can generate a lot of content (video, podcasts, blog posts, infographics) for your audience that answers those questions. Write in a normal tone of voice. Don’t “pad” keywords. Just write as if you were talking to your audience in person. Especially since, you are communicating with your audience. Be human! Be clear! Be consistent!
