coefficient  In mathematics , a coefficient is a multiplicative factor in some term of an expression(or of a series); it is usually a number, but in any case does not involve any variables of the expression.  5x – 3: Here 5 is the coefficient of the linear term 5x.

Exponent  The exponent of a number says how many times to use the number in a multiplication.  82 = 8 × 8 = 6

domain  In mathematics, the domain of definition or simply the domain of a function is the set of "input" or argument values for which the function is defined. That is, the function provides an "output" or value for each member of the domain. 

factors  Factors are numbers you can multiply together to get another number 

base  The number that is going to be raised to a power.

Variable  A symbol for a number we don't know yet. It is usually a letter like x or y.

origin  The starting point. On a number line it is 0 On a two-dimensional graph it is where the X axis and Y axis cross, marked ,0) on the graph here

Integers  an integer is just a whole number anything that is not a decimal or fraction

Graph  In mathematics, a graph is a representation of a set of objects where some pairs of the objects are connected by links

Additive inverse  What you add to a number to get zero. The negative of a number.

quadrant  Any of the 4 equal areas made by dividing a plane by an x and y axis (as shown).

Formula  a formula is an equation that expresses an idea or theory.

Linear equation  A linear equation is an algebraic in which each term is either a constant or the product of a constant and (the first power of) a single variable  Linear equations can have one or more variables. Linear equations occur with great regularity in applied mathematics . While they arise quite naturally when modeling many phenomena, they are particularly useful since many non-linear equation may be reduced to linear equations by assuming that quantities of interest vary to only a small extent from some "background" state. Linear equations do not include exponents.

Two-step equation  A two-step equation is as straightforward as it sounds. You will need to perform two steps in order to solve the equation.

Percent  In mathematics, a percentage is a number or ratio as a fraction of 100.

Multiple  The result of multiplying a number by an integer

L.C.M  The smallest number that is a multiple of two or more numbers.

G.C.F  The highest number that divides exactly into two or more numbers.  the GCF of 12 and 30 is 6, because 1, 2, 3 and 6 are factors of both 12 and 30, and 6 is the greatest.ber that divides exactly into two or more numbers.

COMMON DENOMINATOR  When two or more fractions have the same denominator (the number on the bottom).

EQUIVALANT FACTIONS  Fractions which have the same value, even though they may look different  Example 1/2 and 2/4 are equivalent, because they are both "half“

Terminating decimal  A decimal number that has digits that do not go on forever.  .25

reciprocal  To get the reciprocal of a number, just divide 1 by the number

multiplicative inverse When you multiply a number by its "Multiplicative Inverse" you get 1. Example: 8 × (1/8) = 1

Compatible numbers  Compatible numbers are numbers that are close in value to the actual numbers and easy to add, subtract, multiply, or divide mentally .

Like fractions The different fractions with the same denominator are like fractions
