In this presentation Marketing Mix and the aspect of the Four P's are discussed; Product, Place, Price, and Promotion, which define marketing as the strategies and tactics that businesses use to get the word out about their products and/or services, and to create value for the consumer. Marketing goals, social media marketing and a description of social media is included in this educational, and entertaining presentation which is suitable for business training or university level education.

The 4Ps developed in 1960 by E. J. McCarthy.  Part of the Marketing Mix includes these four synonyms; Product, Place, Price, and Promotion, which define marketing as the strategies and tactics that businesses use to get the word out about their products and/or services, and to create value for the consumer.

The 4Ps:   Product/Service  Place  Price Promotion

Marketing Goals  Product (Service)  Satisfies consumers wants/needs.  Needs to fulfill a claim.  Presentable in displaying benefits on the package. Place  Appropriate product/service, to attract market segment.  Should reflect advertised image.  Within range of established competitor’s price points. Price  Reliable transport/storage ensures consumer availability.  Right product: right place at the right time.  Increases purchase odds of product by consumers. Promotion  Need to communicate with consumers; create value.  Provides information to help with informed decision for product purchase.

What is Social Media?  Social Media can include Bing, Blogger, Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Linkedin, YouTube and others.

The marketing mix helps define marketing elements for successfully positioning the market. The Four P’s, help define marketing options related to product, place, price and promotion.
