Our Learning Targets We can consider our current definitions of literacy and text. We can contemplate minor adjustments for major impact for college and career readiness. We can consider Inquiry as an instructional vehicle for honoring and embracing students’ thinking into our classrooms.

College and Career Ready

Common Core Literacy Standards expect students to: use evidence from texts present careful analyses, well-defended claims, and clear information.

Definition of Literacy? Talk with a partner

Literacy is Thinking To be literate an individual must recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate and use effectively the needed information. Ultimately literate people are those who have learned how to learn.... (The Australian Library Journal, 1995).
