Food & Water The people on the Goldfields mostly ate damper and drank tea. It was hard to drink water in the heat because it would be really warm .Not many people ate meat because it wouldn’t last that long in the heat. It was illegal to sell alcohol on the Goldfields and people could be arrested for selling it. So even though it was illegal, people still bought it. The diggers also drank coffe.

And they set up a system called National Schools. A type of school was the Sunday schools, they were the first schools in the diggings ad they taught religion, reading, writing and mathematics. Another type of school was Private schools. Diggers wives set up schools in their tents to earn money for their family.
